Hmm. I checked on my Evo running AC-ROM v2.6 (post SU binary update), and I confirm SU is remembering permission for all of the programs you cite including WiFi tether.

One exception: I don't have reboot and can't check. But if you meant "Quick Boot", that one is remembering permissions for me too.

Not sure why we're seeing different results on WiFi tether. I'm running the version of WFT that came installed with the ROM: 2.05-pre9.

I think I'm alright with wifi tether, I'm in cm6 doing some benchmarks to compare this rom to but will double check when I'm restored to ac2.6.

It's not a huge deal about su on the that widget, I don't use it all that often but just was "one of those things" ya know?

what do i have to back up with titanium, besides apps, in order to be able to restore the scenes i have saved?

Just before updating, I ran the batch job "Backup all user apps + system data". After the update, I ran batch job "restore missing apps + all system data". After a reboot, everything had come back the way I liked it, including my home screen setup.

Note that I only use 1 scene, so I can't absolutely confirm that it would restore multiple scenes, but I haven't found ANYTHING missing so far and I'd be shocked if this didn't handle your different scenes.

See a note of mine upthread a page or so back; two minor problems were:

1. certain 3rd party widgets didn't display properly until I dragged the widget off screen and replaced it with the same widget.

2. all my app icons and widgets had "doubled". Worked fine, but if I dragged one off screen a second copy was hidden underneath. I threw away the top copy of each and everything seems ok.

AC2.6 vs CM6 w/Snap 7.6BFS (Turbo On)

This ROM is so buttery smooth I just had to see how it compared to CM6, in the hand it feels like they might as well be the same thing so I thought I'd run my own little benchmark.

I didn't turn off data or kill any apps or anything like that, I figure most of us will be actually using either of these ROMs in real world conditions so that's how they were tested.

CM6: fps2d: 53, linpack (avg for 5 runs): 35.003 MFLOPS, quadrant standard (avg for 5 runs): 2239.6

AC2.6: fps2d: 53, linpack (avg for 5 runs): 33.076, quadrant standard (avg for 5 runs): 1285.6

So what do I think, I think numbers don't mean that much in reality. To think that this rom comes so close to an aosp build with a customized kernel (not to mention OC'd) is amazing, everyone who worked on it should be very proud. Good work!

There's a fix for any that still have problems with SU on post 3.There is also some new things added to that post for everyone.

Wow, we actually didn't do too bad considering the differences. We'll never hit those quadrant scores unless tuna brings turbo to sense but we'll definitely get a bump when source is released. Thanks for posting those!

No problem. I have to say switching back and forth earlier regarding the superuser stuff just made me want to compare.

One thing that is a huge noticeable difference to me is that on CM6-Snap7.6Bfs I get tearing when sliding in left to right in launcher pro, AC2.6 IMO is smoother. I'm not sure what's in the kernel to get around the fps but htc seems to have it a little more polished.

As far as the qs scores, I'm sure it means something somewhere but I can't tell any real difference as far as responsiveness goes. I didn't do crazy testing, just some real life stuff like browsing, mini squadron and angry birds. The angry birds levels load a tad, and I mean literally "a tad" (my best guess would be around 1/4 of a second) faster but that's still in beta so who knows how it will behave once officially released.

Not sure if this is related to the latest AC-ROM or not. Just noticed that in the Sense launcher, my search button isn't bringing up a search box any more.

Long press still brings up voice search in the launcher, and short pressing search in other applications works normally.

Anyone else getting this since going to v2.6?

Huh ... never noticed that until now but the reason It's happening (i believe) is because we ditched the HTC version of the gaps in favor of the Google market versions.

Google has stated they will be moving all core Google services out of Android and into the market so they can fix/adjust/improve them at will. One of those happens to be quicksearch which is the box I believe you're referring to.

Funny thing is, many chefs disable this button on purpose cause it bothers a lot of people, then they advertise that as a feature of the ROM. We just accidentally broke it lol!

I can confirm that flashing the latest gapps (9/26) (Index of /gapps/) restores the search button functionality.

Anyone that wants it can feel free to flash away anything they want but as a right handed person, if I had a dime for every time my palm hit that button on accident, i could retire.

We won't be changing that in future builds so if you want that feature you're gonna need to flash the CM gaps. You can dump everything out of the system/app directory in that zip except quick search. Anything else in there is also going to be pushed to system/app if you don't remove it and some of that stuff you probably won't want which means you adb it out or use an app like root explorer to get it out if you don't clean up the zip prior to flashing.

Edit - on second thought, HTC had the button working so according to our goals for the ROM, it should work when we release. V2.7 will include the HTC version of the search which functions with the capacitive search button.

I'm really liking this ROM. Just had a couple noob questions: If I flash the "just extras" from post 3, can I get rid of the Quick boot app? Also, if I download the Superuser app from the market do I have to delete the original Superuser apk or not? Thanks in advance and again, great job with this ROM.

I do use the search button, but I trigger it accidentally far more often than I push it intentionally. :) So I'm not crying that the button got borked in v2.6, but don't mind if it comes back (or not...) in v2.7. How's that for wishy-washy?

I brought it up half-thinking I'd done something in deleting bloatware that might manifest more seriously in other places. Knowing it's baked in and not something I did is reassuring.

Good Morning,

The Radio and Wimax zips on post #3, are they the latest?

As of 10:11am ET, the link in post #3 is correct. Please note the radio flash also includes the newest PRI of 1.77_003 which flashes right along with the radio. Nothing special you have to do. There was no wimax update with this release so no wimax radios.

1) Yep, Once you flash the extras there is no longer a need for quickboot. These features will be included in the next release which means bye bye to quickboot.
2) You shouldn't have to delete it BUT the SU in the market is the same SU in our ROM. If you are going to do that i would suggest at least clearing the cache for SU before downloading. Future builds we will probably revert back to the old SU (little ninja) as that one just simply works. No fuss and no extra effort or additional downloads or updates. Set it and forget it.

It's a very valid point though. I personally hate the button and other than the accidental palm launch, which seems to happen frequently, I never use it. Guess i have to put my personal preferences aside and keep with the goal's of the team :(

Just a side note though, for anyone that doesn't want the search button to work after the 2.7 update you can simple get rid of the Google quick search box from system/app and download the official Google one from the market and that should fix (read = break) it for you lol.

If you read the comments in the market for the Google quick search box you'll see some people saying things like "broke the capacitive search button on my (insert device name)". My thought was .... you should give them 5 stars just for doing that!!!!! hahaha :D

I just rooted my evo for the first time with the latest unrevoked. After that I did a nandroid backup, titanium backup and then wiped everything and flashed the AC rom. It seems to have all worked properly, the phone rebooted and everything is functional. I tried opening titanium backup and it repeatedly asks for superuser permission, if I click grant or deny the request box goes away and immediately pops up. If I wait and hit the back button a few times I can get into the program, if I try to backup everything it hangs and the superuser request pops up again. Do I need to run unrevoked again or something?

EDIT: I seem to have fixed it by adding the superuser permission to the program before opening it.

Are you alluding to ANOTHER update coming down the pipe soon? ;) (see bold above)

I came to post about the search button being borked, I see now that issue has been covered (Downloading latest gap) I like the button myself and rarely hit it by mistake. I am also having a problem that I didnt see here and that is Titanium backup no longer restores correctly for me. When I went to do the usual batch restore of missing apps it starts to load the first app on the list then the phone reboots. I tried rebooting the phone with battery pulls and I still have this issue. I ended up restoring my free apps with Android commander, doing all of them through the market is just down right painful.
