Just in case anyone was curious the latest gapps flash fine during the same recovery session used to install this rom (clockword mod 2.5.0.1)

Index of /gapps/ (hdpi for 9/26, had the 9/17 release on during an earlier test flash of ac 2.6)

I know the gmail is in the market but the previou gapps release had an updated calendar that let you set event privacy, I'm not quite sure of any of the other differences.

As well, this will install google voice off the bat. (it won't be setup for anything like that, just there and waiting)

edit: you also install this through recovery afterwards, no harm no foul.

Man do i know thats right!!!!!!!!! Drove me crazy working on that crap. Basically all you need to do is remove the files mentioned above and use an alternative clock/alarm. Worldclock.apk can only be dismissed with the HTCLockScreen.apk

Oh ... and stop cheating on us. We weren't slacking ... we were cooking!!! :p

LOL I know. I was anxious to have the new OTA even though I knew the implementation here would be much better (no offense to other dev's) and so far it seems to be. This has been my favorite ROM since the first day I flashed it and that continues to be the case.

Thanks for the answer on the APK guys, kinda made me feel like a n00b all over again. :p :D

I'm really in to my phone and spend a ridiculous amount of time here and at XDA and googling and I think I'm a "noob" probably 10 times a day at least, that's why I love it though there's just so much to keep learning.

Speaking of..

I appreciate this wifi tether app but does anyone know how to get the stock aosp tether back in there? (just so I can use it with the extended controls widget)

I couldn't find the world clock APK. Am I missing something? Here I go feeling like a n00b again. :p

Woah.

This puppy is seriously fast. I admit I was in the camp of those who were skeptical that the fps cap could make any perceivable difference. I'm now convinced.

This was my first ROM change, and I was a little worried I'd have to spend a lot of time getting the phone set back up. FWIW, this was about as painless as I can imagine. After flashing I just:
  • opened market, logged onto my google account and downloaded Titanium Backup
  • Launched Titanium Backup, (it recognized me as a donor), and I ran the "Restore Missing Apps + All System Data" batch job
  • Rebooted, and I'm back where I was, but with a new, faster ROM.

Oh, I had to remove and reapply three third-party widgets - they came up with "error loading widget" text in place of the icon. And upon rearranging a couple, discovered that all my homescreen items were "doubled" - remove one and there's a copy underneath. Everything seemed to be working ok, but I deleted all the top copies just because. So I spent maybe 5 more minutes cleaning up my home screens.

Thanks guys, for updating this great ROM!

The doubling of widgets happened to me once, too, when updated AC ROM. I believe it has something to do with Titanium.

The media fire link isn't working for me :( Anyone have an alternate download site?

You're killing the server!!!!! Just kidding. I just checked and its up

Not sure about the stock AOSP tethering capability but regarding wired tether all you gotta do is plug your phone into the PC with a USB cable and select "USB Tether" from the menu that pops up and it tethers automatically.

Also not sure if that widget would work with it but you could try i suppose.

worldclock.apk is in system/app. Can be removed with all kinds of different tools like root explorer or titanium backup. Make sure you have an alternative clock like deskclockgoogle.apk (look down hint hint)

Maybe next release we'll just include that into data/app so anyone that wants to remove the lock screen can and anyone who doesnt can simply uninstall

Not possible, this isn't an aosp rom ...

Actually ..... ;)

I just bought the app to test for him and it works perfectly fine. Plug the phone into your PC via a usb cable, tap the USB tether button on the widget he's referring too and wired tethering. You could always just use the menu that pops automatically or use the menu in Menu > settings > Wireless and network > USB tethering.

EDIT - BTW .... that widget seems to be well worth the $1 or whatever the exchange translates into. Very cool.

will i be able to use my nand backup from v2.5 on this new one?

NAND is not something that you can pick and choose from. It's like a ghost image of your hard drive. You either have to restore all of it or none of it.

For backing up and restoring apps try titanium backup or mybackup pro.

No, nand backs up the entire ROM. If you install 2.6 and then restore your nand backup, you will be back to 2.5. You need to use a backup app like Titanium to back up your apps.
