[ROM][AOSP][10/31][JB] Bugless Beast VZW Galaxy Nexus

Also might try TWRP. All the cool kids are using it

I would go with twrp it is by far superior IMO to cwm, but I don't want to overwhelm any one that is new to flashing

CWM 6 touch is nice....either way its a recovery. I like that you can queue up zips in TWRP...it also seems a bit better on JB....but I'm sure that's just temporary.

I haven't had a chance to use cwm touch yet I read about some of the issues with it and recoveries and didn't want to risk it, I am sure I will try it eventually tho

If you download goo manager in the play store it will install twrp for you, look a few pages back and I believe it has steps to walk you through it, if not I can help it is really simple

The video for goo manager in play store guides you through it as well.

Re: [ROM][AOSP][7/24][JB] Bugless Beast VZW Galaxy Nexus

Updated to 7/24 today, still having the issue where camera looks like it's taken a picture but never updates gallery. Video camera FCs when attempt to record as well.
Anyone having this issue as well?
Did a search for resolution as others had been reporting similar issue a few days back but no updates so far. The SD rescan app didn't do the trick either.

Help would be much appreciated!

EDIT: May have found the solution. Was likely a corrupt DCIM folder. Changed name of existing one to ZDCIM, created a new one and picture saved properly. Re-migrating old pictures back into the new DCIM folder to see if that will have everything in one place. Will report back if this is a permanent fix.

Try a different kernel--people have been raving about Franco's latest--r223.

I use trinity and love it.

After flashing something you need to give the phone a couple days / couple power cycles before you can judge battery life. The ROM and kernel need time to settle and the battery time to calibrate itself.

This as well. You want to test it over at least 1 cycle, 2 cycles preferably.

Are there major differences between these two kernels? Or is it more dependent on how it reacts to each individual phone?

Also, are there some common features that you would use on both kernels..like I read something about hotplug (turning off 1 cpu core while in standby)? TIA!

Huge difference between the two kernels.
Franco's enables a TON of features (hotplug is one) on his kernel that you don't see on the stock kernel in BB.
Few others include Color Control, set of about 4 different features that you can use to "improve" the color and saturation levels on the Gnex screen.
Sound hacks to improve the audio output
Power Modes, which are kinda like macro settings for a bunch of different kernel settings.

Franco also adds in updates pushed by other vendors before they are put in the stock kernel.

Now, that being said, custom kernels add to possible problems in a custom ROM. Pete spends the time getting BB to work right with his kernel, stock in this case, at least right now.
If you have a problem, blame the kernel first before you blame the ROM. I was good on r220 with the 7/19 build but r223 on 7/24 was giving me lag, re-flashing the 7/24 build made it all good again.

I love franco's kernel. It's awesome but since Jelly Bean it's given me a bunch of performance issues that just don't happen in stock BB. That's not a reflection of anything other than JB being new and everyone working through the early bugs you see in custom ROMs on new version of Android.

Anybody experiencing any bugs with the latest build? Or is it just my cracked out nexus?

I'll hit the home button or back out of an app and end up on the screen to the left of my home screen. It shows up empty, in which I have plenty of widgets and apps on. I'll swipe over to my home screen only to have skip over two screens which also appears empty but as with the first screen should be packed full of apps and widgets. Then out of no where all by its self it reverts back to the screen I started on filling up with what I originally had on it.
