[ROM] ApeX for Droid X - An AOSP Experience

I love this rom but I am wondering, with the blur i was able to use thier widgets and now it seems to have dissapeared. is there a way to get them back?

I've installed Apex RC1 its nice and all but i have 0 contact now. It wont let me select Backup Assist in the system's menu. Also, it wont accept a corporate sync email, unless i go to the corporate email thing and enter it in that way, but that returns a security message from my email's server. Any way to fix either of these problems?

-Place file on your sdcard.

Bootstrap recovery and reboot recovery - need bootstrapper for this. Open it and press bootstrap recovery thr press success. Then tap reboot recovery.

-Navigate to mounts and storage. In the following order: FORMAT system, data, and cache
-mount /system.
Highlight each in that order and press camera button to select. Make sure to mount again after.

Back up and choose install from zip and select apex. Should install and reboot.

Greetins,

I have had an X since the day after they were released. Wasted no time ordering one on the day they were released and it was here the next day.

I have been playing with and 'updating' from 2.1 to the leaked 2.2 and then to Apex. I have had one annoying problem since the upgrade to the leaked 2.2 and then another since the upgrade to Apex.

Upon the flashing of the leaked 2.2 I have not been able to just 'reboot' the unit and have it come right up. It ALWAYS sits in the logo screen until I go through several iterations of pulling the battery and replacing until I finally 'catch' it somehow and it then gives me the home screen. I know that it is loading otherwise because it does give audible indicators that it is... just sits at the logo screen. When I do finally get it up everything runs fine until.... I loaded Apex.

It is my understanding that Apex had bundled within it the 2.3.15 version of the OS and indeed after loading it does reflect that. But now... not only do I have issues of getting to a home screen every time I force a boot, whether it be through Koush's recovery or just wanting to reboot after loading software, it also just reboots arbitrarily and frequently. If I get it up to home screen and do not do anything that has to do with GPS or Wifi it runs fine... the moment I try to use google maps, navigator, local wifi connection... it reboots... and there I am again having to fart with the battery pull until I can finally get it to come back up.

It should be noted that even tho it is loaded and running, Koush's boot recovery NEVER comes up on a planned recovery reboots... however... during times of the battery pulling it has come up intermittently.

Anyone else experiencing these issues... if so... any comments?

I have also loaded hofix1 but still trying to get to koush's reboot recovery so I can actually install it.

Thanks all for any help/info you can provide.

For bootstrapper to work u need to hit bootsrtap recovery and wait till you get a success pop up. Hit ok then hit reboot recover and let it reboot. Just do that now and see if it helps.

do u need to be on leaked 2.2? and isnt there a way where you can get boostrapper for free?

No it works off any 2.2. Yes u can search the net for a free bootstrapper apk but buy it. Support to a man that without this you would not being loading this.

ROM Manager.

I suggest you go back to 2.2 (if you did a back up) and try Rom Managers STOCK 2.2 Froyo.

(you might be able to just flash the stock 2.2 from ROM Manager over the Apex Rom, not sure)

I was having issues w/ the leaked 2.2 and Roms working together (Tranquility, etc.) until I went with ROM MANAGERS stock 2.2 . After getting the STOCK 2.2 from ROM MANAGER go ahead and flash the Apex Rom. And yes you need Droid X Bootstrap (make sure you have root).

One more important detail, once you get Rom Manager make sure you Flash ClockworkMod Recovery within the Rom Manager application.

Good luck!

I loaded this Rom recently and I'm loving it so far... the one thing I'm having a hard time figuring out though is why I have two calendars. If I look in my apps I see two identical calendar icons called calendar.

If a calendar reminder goes off, I get two reminders. One is the normal red/white grid icon and the other is a little grey/white box with a 1 in it.

Anyone else see this?

You might have to go in your calendar app and delete all data, worth a shot. When you flashed the rom did you follow the directions to the T?

-Place file on your sdcard. Bootstrap recovery and reboot recovery

-Navigate to mounts and storage. In the following order: FORMAT system, data, and cache

-mount /system <<<-- THIS IS A CRUCIAL STEP, please don't miss it!

-Return to previous menu and install .zip from sd card

-Choose ApeX and install!
