HOTFIX 1 - 10/10/10

This fixes wifi tethering so it no longer force closes. Also, additional theming has been done to the dialer app, as well as the multitouch and Swype keyboards. Credit goes to phimuskapsi @ XDA for the mods.

Fabolous_ApeX_hotfix1.zip -http://www.mediafire.com/?79711kbh1755bzo

You can install this like any theme, no need to format anything or mount /system. Just install .zip from SD card.

If you want to return to the stock MT or Swype keyboard, download these and use the install script to install them.

LatinIME.apk - LatinIME.apk
Swype.apk - Swype.apk

Suggestions:

-Install Droid X Bootstrapper if you use adb push (it auto elevates to su)
-Go into MusicMod settings and change the notification color (orange by default? Black = FF000000)
-Use Spare Parts and make all transitions fast and enable fancy input animation
-Use the scripts to remove apps you don't use
-Turn off superuser notifications (I find it annoying, anyways)

Script Instructions(detailed):

You can run each script without a modifier at the end to see what they do. They will show you the modifiers to be attached at the end, and what it will result in. For removal/restore scripts, the modifiers are -rm and -rs. So if we ran:

carhome -rm

that would remove carhome. And carhome -rs would do restore it.

For the switching scripts, the modifier at the end lets you choose which version you want to use (i.e. -mod for music mod, -mot for Motorola's app)

As for install/uninstall, I wrote these because I found a lot of people asking how to install an app to the system partition. These scripts will do/undo that for you. Just place the desired file on your sdcard (not in any folders) and run:

install nameofyourapp.apk

and it will install to /system/app/ for you!

This is the ROM that I've been using since testing it out originally for him and I absolutely LOVE it. It's nice and smooth and quick. I think I'll be sticking with this one for a while. Fab is great at what he does and I think that he'll be updating this thing as he goes along to get it as close to AOSP as possible.

BTW, have you seen the lockscreen sliders? SICK!

I really like this. I want to try it out biy not sure if I can go right to it. Im running first froyo leak with Flyx. Mods done to build props notification bar keyboard and media gallery. Will I need to get rid of all the changes or can I just run it. Hmmmm.

I installed ApeX this morning and wow - It flies. So far it's been very smooth transition, especially given that my path to this ROM was bricked after attempting ZapX install in ROM Manager, un-brick back to 2.1 SBF, re-root, install Froyo 2.3.9 leak, install 2.3.15 deodexed via TBH, install ApeX per the instructions here.

Phone is FAST, people, with zero calendar issues - The reason I couldn't stick with Rubix Focused 0.5 (tried the fix and it didn't take, although overall that ROM is killer, too). I love the additions: Spare Parts, the terminal emulator (I must learn this), wifi tether, the tweaked music player is sick, and did I mention how snappy it is? DX cooks as it is, but with this ROM it screams through website and multi-tasking. This is a great one - Fabolous did a phenomenal job. Can't wait for some themes. I still need to re-install the black bar, keyboard and picture frames via ROM Manager, and drop the HOTFIX in, but I cannot imagine wanting to switch things up for a while here.

I have one weird possible issue, though - Is there a specific boot animation that was made for ApeX? I don't know why, but I'm just getting the word ANDROID across the screen when I boot.

That's the boot animation. I don't think it's specifically for ApeX though. I've seen it before on other ROMs also.

BTW, if you theme over top of this ROM, you'll lose the lock screen sliders until they're released for MetaMorph.

So I rooted my official ota 2.2. Could I still install this over it? Ive been reading and someone mentions its the leaked 2.2 rom or something. I really don't want to brick my phone. My phone is deoxed or whatever that term is but I believe this phone does it for you.

I installed the galax s theme over this and did lose them.

any idea when it will be released? I would like to get them back (but keep my theme)

I had email issues with this, so i just copied the 2 blur email files back over, did a sync (dunno if i needed to do that or not) and rebooted..
email working great now.

very pleased with this rom.. it flys and works great

lol i just swapped out the images in the framework..
I was like sweet and came back her to post a nevermind.
but thanks anyway for the heads up.
i think the clear bars look great!

Is there any issue with putting this ROM on the SD card and going into rom manager and installing it threw there?

I just installed Fabulous's lock screens on FlyX. Is it just me, the slider seems choppy like the original, not smooth like 2.1.
Not a big deal, I still like it.

not that i could think of
but i put it on the sd card and boot into clockwork recovery.. install that way

Just tried this out. No issues following the how to. I was on first leak 2.2 with Flyx and it loaded up with no problem. Nice and fast! I like the way the tex mes was set up on flyx better than this. Anyone know how to get that back???
Loaded the black keyboard and black gallery and kept the sliders. When I changed to the black notifacation bar I lost the sliders.

He has released Hot Fix 2 for the battery issues. He also released a nice theme for it that makes the notification bar dark, changes the fonts, and makes the notification window opaque.
