[rom] AXI0M

Wow just wow. I was using other roms but in the back of my mind, I was surely coming back to axiom one day. His thread on rootz was the biggest attesting to the popularity of axiom.

Yeah, I read some big kang trip on the TB. Had some major kang trip going on with the charge at one point also. I would guess some base human emotion like greed and jealousy has reared its ugly head somewhere in this. What a shame.

Wow. I have not been on for a day or so since 2.4 has been awesome for me and now this! This sucks.

We at MDW are all pretty sad as well. I hope he comes back. One of the best if not the best ROM I have come across! DT you are the man if you are reading this! :'(

Thanks for everything. Now to find my new addiction. We need a support group here for previous axiom users and abusers.

Just wanted to know if anyone noticed the lag on the pattern lock screen. It also seems like my browser hangs alot when a page is 3/4 of the way loaded. Also had the wallpaper change on its own to black from the live wallpaper I was using. The wallpaper switch may have been due to low battery. I am running axiom 2.4 with Franco's latest kernel

Well if people want to act immature about open source software then they need a reality check. I'm running 2.4. Sad day. Also sad he walked away from childish BS. :'(

Yeah I just read that he has stopped ,and kinda sad.
This was the one I was gunno flash .I was impressed what I had read about and the frequent updates.I hope he starts back up again .

Hey mclarryjr,

I know there is going to first be a period of denial (thinking he'll come back...which I'm in right now), then a period of loss and morning, then finally, we'll move on. Let us know what you settle on for a ROM. You led me to this one, so I'm probably going to follow you to the next one.

Grey

i agree with grey. i like installing ROMS but don't have the time or patience to try them all out. i did try this one out because of mclarryjr, cyberwarrior, and comments from everyone else. so i do thank yall for taking time to try out different ROMS and letting us know which are good to use. please let us know if you decide to try another one. mean time, i hope droidtheory comes back!

Lol.. I know how you guys feel.. but trying stuff out on your own can be a good experience. I'm sticking with axi0m 2.4 for now, but within a few days I'm probably going to try out AOKP and the new Codename Android ROM that popped up in rootz last night... both look interesting and people are saying a lot of great things about Romans rom (aokp)... You gotta take some chances tho. Back up your current setup, flash something new, play around a while, if you hate it you can revert to your backup and another day when you have some free time you can try something else altogether.

Take th3ory's (hopefully temporary) departure as an opportunity to test out what some other highly respected devs are doing... I know I will :)

I saw the rootzwiki posting made by droidtheory before it got yanked off rootzwiki (presumably by the people that run rootzwiki because why would he take the time to write it and yank it off himself). I have to say it was interesting.

Apparently, according to Droidtheory, several coders in the coding community felt that the name of his ROM should be changed to KANG because these coders started posting in various forums that Droidtheory was "kanging". Now, I do not pretend to know ANYTHING about the coding community but I googled this term. The term is used to describe someone who takes someone elses code and passes it off as their own.

In the rootzwiki post, Droidtheory got pissed because he said he never "kanged" because he gave credit on his post #1 where you could download the ROM to those whose code he used to help develop the ROM package. This was the gist of the issue as i understood it.

Now, this makes me think about whether or not a coder that gives credit to someone for code - and then uses it in their own code - is ok or not. I dont know. I suppose coding is intellectual property and if you use someones intellectual property do you need express written permission etc. or is giving credit for the work enough? I would venture to say that what might have happened here is that the ROM was enjoying large success and some people got upset that it was unfair to those that participated in the code writing for the entire ROM package. I do not know who is right or wrong here. Just telling ya'll what I read.

So as I see it Droidtheory simply said "%$#&*" it i am done. I dont know whether this was kanging or not. I just wish all those involved would consider making some rules and communicating with eachother because the overall situation is unfortunate to those like myself that enjoyed the ROM. Perhaps those involved can form a "partnership" of sorts and work together to make "the" top level ROM. But that is Naive to think. The internet is a vast place and at many times a lawless place. But this is what I believed happened and I am only posting this because many did not see the rootzwiki post before it was taken down.

In closing, I too thank Droidtheory if you are reading this. I did enjoy the ROM not so much the drama that ended it.

Well... there is a specific set of rules for all this, GPL (google it).

I don't personally care for the specifics, and yes it really looks like some immature selfish devs got angry because the title of the thread didn't say "kang". Some of them didn't even have work that was supposedly kanged.. one in particular was just on a crusade after his ROMs got shown to be kangs and he was crying about it.

I think the fact that DT had multiple sections in his OP's where proper thanks and credit was given to anyone and everyone who deserved it, should have been enough. It's all getting into political, bureaucratic nonsense beyond that, which is not what this community is supposed to be about.

But whatever, the dude was doing this for fun and a hobby, shouldn't need to deal with investigations and accusations and ridiculous stuff like that, when you consider that this is all supposed to be FUN and he's done nothing but try to keep it lighthearted, fun, and enjoyable for the community. A true asset lost, yeah, but such is life, time for us all to hope he comes back but move on and appreciate the fact that we have phones seeing the most dev support in, like, EVER for a phone. There's plenty of ROMs out there and we can all find something that works for us, and hopefully get the nasty taste of this incident out of our mouths in due time.

Yep. Per the GPL, DT does have to give credit where credit is due with this code. He also has to make his code available for free to anyone who requests it (that includes the code he has written himself). Under the GPL, you are legally allowed to use any code covered under the GPL regardless of any monetary benefit. But he is not required to call it "Kang" or anything like that. He just has to give credit.

It seemed to me was doing a good job giving credit...Or at least he seemed to be making an honest attempt to give credit. If he slipped up and didn't give somebody due credit, I'm certain he would have been happy to make amends and apologize for the clerical error.

This whole situation got blown way out of proportion with childish drama.

I'm going to flame them because they did not give credit to their computers manufacturing. Lets face it the computer did all the work in building the rom yet they did not give credit for it. They wanna whine about giving proper credit lets do this

"Thanks to Asus for making my Asus G73Sw that i used to post this. As Well as Microsoft for the Windows 7 Operating system and Mozilla for the browser."

If anyone jumps to the codename rom let me know how it does compared to 2.4. I am at 41% with almost 14 hours today with the franco kernel #10. Hate to change as everything is running nice. ;)

Some one needs to tell the kids it is past their curfew. DisapoIntend the best dev left because crying newborns scream.....panzy. Totally panzy. Seen this drama way to many times......android days of our lives, exempt we loose when the kids cry.....

I just flashed this rom but I have two questions if anyone can help me. First, is there a way I can get rid of the percentage in the battery meter and go back to the stock battery look? And two, I've seen people who have changed the three navigation keys to the ICS blue, which I'd like to do also but i'm not sure how. Any help would be appreciated.
