Source/Link: [ROM] CyanogenMod 7.2.0 RC0 for Samsung Epic 4G SPH-D700 - Now with WiMAX!
Credit: UberPinguin
[INFO]

Changes:

  • Fixed brightness control (noobnl)
  • WiFi Hotspot (decad3nce, noobnl, uberpinguin)
  • Fixed bad cached download mounts (noobnl)
  • Fixed overlay for video encoding/decoding (decad3nce & noobnl)
  • Fixed e911(mkasick)
  • Fixed most of the dhcpd cluster (a couple more issues left)
  • Fixed init.d
  • Fixed cache errors
  • Fixed issues with logwrapper
  • MTD/yaffs2
  • Stage1/Stage2 inits
  • Updates from upstream
  • Backup/Restore fixed
  • Updated prebuilt modules
  • 2.3.7
  • Compiled kernel from source MAJOR THANKS to mkasick and Rodderik
  • Fixed torch overlay
  • Fixed MMS overlay
  • Fixed incoming call routing
  • Fixed mic feedback/whistling
  • Adjusted APN for MMS - receiving works, sending fixed
  • Fixed application notification LED based on a tip from DRockstar
  • Fixed haptic feedback with a patch from jt1134
The current buglist:

  • Native tethering does not work with WiMAX. Enabling either WiFi or USB tether will disconnect WiMAX until tether is turned off. Third-party wifi tethering apps are known to work.
  • WiMAX Toggle Widget is Broken.
Attempting to use it may cause the notification bar to force-close. You can disable the widget entirely in the CyanogenMod Settings menu.
WiMAX can be managed through the Wireless & Networks system setting screen.
NOTE: There is a third-party WiMAX Toggle Widget on the Android Market. It is not free, but has been reported to work on NS4G. Work toward implementing a functioning native toggle widget is ongoing.

New Changes:

  • WiMAX (uberpinguin, mkasick, wispoffates)
  • Fixed camcorder media profiles for smoother recording and better auto white balance. Also adds "HD" profile. (Decad3nce)
  • Torch toggle button in PowerWidget (noobnl)
  • New WiFi driver from Aries kernel. Fixes native WiFi Hotspot and toggle button.

I recommend using the EI22 modem.

Re: [ROM] EpicMTD CM 7.2.0 RC0

Works great, loving it minus lack of swype. It's good to hear from the boss again, Don Paul, too. No bugs except my bookmarks don't want to restore, but all I go to is AC anyway

Re: [ROM] EpicMTD CM 7.2.0 RC0

Don Paul... LOL... I try my best guys to stay on top of the important stuff for you all on the Epic...

Glad decad3nce and the rest of the guys got this to become reality... I remember running the very first Alpha builds back many months ago....

God, this makes me almost mad that I'm getting my Nexus S 4G and at the same time, my cousin is going to sell my epic :(.

Don't feel bad Officer... You were a supporter of this phone and its ROMs for a long time. We all ran the alphas and more recently the kanged version of CM7... I'm just happy for those who are still on the device they finally got true recognition from CM team.. It says a lot for the development community and the device's place in history after being given a bad wrap for limited dev support for so long.

Moving to the NS4G? I'll see you soon :)

I didn't plan on staying on the Epic for very long. I came from the Intercept as my first Android phone, and while it played nice, it was very much a terrible experience. I upgraded my spare line to the Epic and move it to my primary line. I've loved the experience. It also made me realize that the Android phones are like little computers. You get what you pay for (although I scored my Epic for 0.00$ with the Lady GaGa deal at Best Buy). I was between the Epic and the NS4G, and regretted my decision of saving a few $$ over the upgradability. Now that Cyanogen has taken it as a fully supported device, I feel confident that we'll get an ICS build on here, and therefore greatly expanding the lifespan of this otherwise wonderful phone.

Re: [ROM] EpicMTD CM 7.2.0 RC0

Simple question for a simple mind.... What does the acronym MDT stand for and why does toadlife creator of Clean GB says once you install the MDT version of his rom you can only flash a similar rom or ODIN back? :confused

I love the CM 7 rom. I always have since I've had my cdma hero. Works great.

Yup. It should be coming either tomorrow or the day after :)

It's MTD, you can read about it here: http://forums.androidcentral.com/epic-4g-rooting-roms-hacks/142950-list-mtd-roms-kernels.html. The video on that page is a good intro for people who want to learn more about it.

Ok so i'm running Ramdon 3.3 right now. Between CM 7.2.0 and Ramdon 3.3 other than the file system set up, what would be the advantage of running something like CM 7.2.0 over something like Ramdon or ACS ICS 5.5?

Long-term, CM7 is our best chance of getting ICS. Short term, it's a very snappy ROM with awesome features. RandomROM 3.3 is fantastic (and my preference among the BML ROMs cause of its great battery life). If you're confident with Odin, you could flash CM7 and check it out and see how you like it, and if you don't you can always Odin back to stock and restore your RandomROM Nandroid.

Re: [ROM] EpicMTD CM 7.2.0 RC0

I flashed CM 7.2.0 RC0 today and there are two issues so far:
- The sound quality while on phone calls is not very good.
- You cannot adjust the call volume while holding the phone to your ear. You have to move the phone away from your face to adjust it.

Are there any fixes for these...perhaps one of the nightlies?

Otherwise the ROM is great!!!

Re: [ROM] EpicMTD CM 7.2.0 RC0

How can I determine what modem I have? Baseband version-S:D700.0.5S.EI22

No fixes for those yet. But, the latest nightly does add wifi tethering and a working torch power status bar, which means 2 less things in the current bug list. Oh, and I should prolly just mention that 4G is being looked at, and there's promising progress being made...

Re: [ROM] EpicMTD CM 7.2.0 RC0

It's finally here!!!

CM7.2 with WIMAX. And, from my experience, it's working great :-)

EDIT: Paul, think you can update the OP with this link when you have a sec?

CM7 just keeps getting better and better, I really like what this has brought to my Epic 4G.

........we've been running CM6 on our other line, just beautiful interface, and well worth all the tinkering + special attention that it has required to keep the device delivering rock solid performance......................newhoobz b-ware: this ROM will command lots of your time + energy (+ now w/ wimax4G, you'll LUV every minute of it!)

Re: [ROM] CyanogenMod 7.2.0 RC0 for Samsung Epic 4G SPH-D700 - No

Currently they are on 7.2 RC2. Running that now. It's beautiful. Also if anyone has trouble with trying to enable the lockscreen:

Settings -> CyanogenMod Settings -> Tablet Tweaks -> Disable Lockscreen (it would be currently checked, uncheck it to enable lockscreen)
