[ROM] Cyanogenmod v6.0.0-RC1

Is the "stable" release that is coming out today different from the nightly builds? Just wondering if what is being released today is any different from doing one of the recent nightly's?

OK, finally found time to install it and is just as expected, fast! I got the Nightly Build from 8/25 and it works well.

The only big issue I have right now is apparently the gapps (Google Services Framework), I downloaded the zip file that was specified, but it's Force Closing all the time. Is there an update for gapps? I don't know if that's what's affecting me.

UPDATE: Not even the browser is working, is that part of gapps? I just tried opening it and the phone rebooted. The email account I was able to login is not working (@msn.com, same as hotmail) and my Yahoo e-mail I cannot even login. This is quite frustrating.

One last thing, I used Titanium Backups to bring my old info that I had with Honeybun ROM in 2.1.

Hmm... I didn't run into any of that with the 8/25. Sounds like a bad install maybe. Nandroid back and try again. Use the current nightly, 8/28.

Sent from my CDMA Hero. I got me some hot froyo on hero action here!

Oh no, you're the bearer of bad news... OK, I'll use the 8/28, I used the 8/25 since I downloaded it the other day.

BTW, is there a newer version of gapps, or is it OK to use the one on post #1?

I reinstalled and most everything seems OK now.

A few issues though:

1. Huge battery drain, culprit - Appbrain...this one makes no sense at all to me! Uninstalled and no more drain.
2. I was able to add my MSN/hotmail account, but Yahoo cannot do it at all, keeps on telling me the 'username or password incorrect'...I have done this at least 10 times, keeps on showing the same. Verified my info on my PC and it's being entered correctly. Are Yahoo e-mail accounts blocked in Froyo?

Besides that, everything seems OK.

Edit to add: with Honeybun 2.1 Appbrain & Yahoo worked OK.

I'm currently running the 8-25 nightly and now I'm not able to boot into recovery where I can install another rom or do a backup. I've pulled battery and then tried holding down the home key while powering on device and my device just sits at the HTC and never moves. If I turn the device on without pressing the home button, the phone will boot fine. Any ideas on how to fix this or get around it? I'm wanting to install the latest nightly.

Update: I was able to find the issue. I had gone into ROM manager and had set another recovery in there to be the one that my phone used. Once I changed back to my old one, I was able to get into recovery with no issues.

My yahoo works fine, try k9 mail.

I think that's the one I'm using.

gapps-mdpi-frf91-3-signed.zip is the one I got on my card.

Link to gapps: http://mirror.kanged.net/gapps/gapps-mdpi-FRF91-3-signed.zip

Or go here, post #1: Cyanogenmod 6.0.0 for CDMA Hero Testing #2 (8/6/10) - CyanogenMod Forum

EDIT: No, the gapps on the first post of this thread is the old one. That is probably why you are having issues. Use the one I linked.

OK, as you mentioned I actually keep on having a few issues, so I will download the new gapps, but the links you posted apparently don't take me directly there, but I found the following:

HTC Hero - CyanogenMod Forum

I will use this one which is the google addon FRF91-MDPI-20100816. I hope I download the right one, but if not I'll let you know.

That would be the right one.

I'm also using FRF91-MDPI-20100816 from the cyanogenmod forum, and haven't had many problems at all.

Per an earlier question, I am not using any battery tweak. Often times I am shocked at how well the battery holds up, but it's not always superb.

Overall, I am still really pleased with it. I'm not sure whether I'll want to flash a final stable mod, since I'll have to redo a lot of customizing!

OK, I downloaded the 8/30 nightly (last night) and downloaded the 8/16 gapps, installed the nightly wiping everything and my google apps are already there...

Anyway, is very stable since last night, no issues at all, I didn't install the gapps since these are already in there, just weird these showed up without me installing.

The only thing is the Yahoo mail is not working at all and my MSN/hotmail is working with issues, keeps on bringing the same e-mails like every 4 hours, what's wrong with that? I don't want to download the K9, but I guess that's the only way of making this work, which sucks. IMO this should work flawlessly in Froyo, but I don't know if in future nightlies they will make this work.

I had trouble and googled everywhere to load sbcglobal.net mail on my phone. So Yahoo, ATT, should all be the same.

It must be entered manually.
IB Mail OB Mail
Email - your address
User - same
POP Server - pop.att.yahoo.com smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com
Check SSL SSL (I included all cert.)
Port 995 25

Set frequency, I set none, I hate push mail and notifications blinking all the time, also save battery.

It will authenticate after IB, then again after OB. Mine is working in EMail, lists both.

Hope this helps.:)

OK, I think I figured out why gapps were already there the other day. It seems my dalvik cache was not wiped, I noticed while trying to flash again. Data was wiped fine, but dalvik is asking to do it thru adb.

Does anybody have instructions step by step to wipe dalvik cache through adb? I need to clear it, it means I'm using gapps from post 1 which I believe are from July...OLD!!!

Rc 2 ??

I am joining you guys a little late, having finally become tired of Aloyisius' rom. I noticed RC-1 is 2+ weeks old and there are nightly builds. Any suggestions on whether to wait for RC-2 or to start with a nightly build? Will 2 be out soon, any ideas? I am not a daily rom upgrader and like to go a few months at a time.

Pete
