[ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.1.0 -Stable

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0- RC1

also, about the battery...i've done all the tips listed on the CM9 site under the battery teaks. im losing about 10% battery every hour. no idea how to improve this. i've got cpu spy, juice defender, systempanel lite going with no real improvement.

any ideas?

I feel your pain. I think that if the battery would have lasted wake up to bedtime, I'd never have dicked around with rooting the phone or roms. I never got much use from CPU spy. I have the $5 version of juice defender which really only seems to make a difference if I set it to "extreme prejudice". I had battery spy or something like that and found that it was guilty for draining my battery itself.

For the past few days I disabled juice defender and it didn't seem to make a difference. I think the best battery life I ever got was when I was running rooted clean GB with the last sprint update that had connection manager.

Can I root my epic4g using mac computer ?

Yes, only thing: you will use Heimdall instead of ODIN to flash root into your device. (note: Heimdall will work on mac as well as pc's).

I'm not doing anything wrong, X. Android OS and Maps are numbers 2 and 3 on my list. I haven't done anything to over utilize those. That is off the shelf tiness.

WTF is up with Maps? What can you do to reduce the drain from Android OS?

For the adventurous ones out here:

an UNOFFICIAL port of CM10 Android 4.1.1 JELLYBEAN for the og EPIC4G was posted over at the xda:

xda-developers - View Single Post - [ERA] [ROM] Jelly Bean POC

It's an unofficial release, meaning there is no official support for it, so it's your personal decision whether to wait for the official release or not........... but it's available as a preview for those of you interested in having a taste of Jellybean on your Epic!

As things have it, a number of devices have pushed out 'preview' releases in the past several days (each w/ their own device-specific bugs + *zany* results reported by users) so please use your own judgement before previewing JB........as we already know, shouldn't be too long before the Epic CM Team gets that first officially supported release out to you!

BTW: if you do end up running JB, please drop a THNX to marcusant, + by extension, xboxfanj + all other devs that played a role in hastening Jellybean's early preview release!

Question to all you modders.

I've never rooted/modded my phone. But I'm looking for something to hold me over till I can get a new phone in a few months and I think CM9 will be awesome.

My question is, will installing CM9 in my phone cause it to run slower?

i just flashed CM10 from CM9 RC1, RC1 is more of a finished product of coarse without any holes, Some options are missing in this first cm10 preciew, but it looks VERY promising!!

Now that we are RC2, it's a step closer to Official Release............it'd be awesome to have a 100% CM9, then our members could always have the option of running a soundly working finished ROM or to go the way of the alpha / beta builds w/ future 'in-development' versions such as CM10.

If I download RC2, does ROM manager included with the release allow me to switch between them by selecting the rom and rebooting?

I hate to be a downer but "this" will never happen. It will be "branded" as stable but there will still be buggy and/or completely non-functional aspects/features that are features of just basic AOSP. It will be left an un-finished product just as CM7 was for CM9, but this time for CM10, which will be left an un-finished product because too much of the dev team will concentrate all their efforts into the new devices they've gotten through the thousands of dollars in donations which were to ensure we would one day see a fully functional, bug free CM7 or CM9.

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0- RC1

Ughhh, so I have a major problem. I installed RC2 just like any other upgrade. Downloaded, put on SD card, went to recovery and flashed it in. I thought everything was fine until I noticed all of my contacts were gone. I tried to open gmail and it looks like it's going to open for a split second and then closes right out. Not a force close, just back to the home screen. I though ok, I'd go to play store and unstall gmail and reinstall but the play store closes instantly as well.

What should I do? Do i need to install gapps again?

Yes. There was a warning on the EpicCM blog that you need to re-install gapps and Sprint Visual Voicemail if you use it.

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0- RC1

Great job to everyone who make these mods and tutorials possible! Thank you.

This was my first time rooting and installing a rom. Had CM9 installed in about 1 hour.

Awesome job guys, it feels like I have a brand new phone. Really amazing stuff.
