[ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.1.0 -Stable

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0- RC2

Is it just me or is the battery life a little bit worse than stock? I've been noticing my battery life getting drain a bit more than when I wasn't rooted.

Just last night before I went to be I turned wifi off and everything else and all apps as well, except gps, (I've always left that on even when stock). And my battery was at 96% when I went to sleep, I woke up about 5 hours later and my battery was at around 85%. Is it normal?

I've only been on CM9 for a few days so maybe the battery is still getting "optimized"?

That's a little more than it should be on ICS. I usually get a drain of about 1% per hour on standby.

I got to part 6 and it said success on ODIN and when I pulled the battery to do the 3 button press, it doesnt do anything. The phone is completely dead now and nothing turns it on, what can I do?

You should take it slow w/ your situation.........pull back, allow your device to cool down, + take a moment here to research the various options to boot back to download mode --the likeliest reponse that you would attempt to achieve from what sounds like a bricked device.

Paul627g's [HOW TO] in Stickies is a great resource for bricked circumstances such as this.

Try removing both your sd card & battery + go ahead: connect your device to the pc using your microUSB cable (for power). See if you can NOW boot to download mode. If you still get no response, remove cable then hold on to your device w/ '1' + 'power' buttons held down, + begin to move battery IN + OUT quickly.......this may cause a sudden BOOT to which you prepare to leave the battery IN the battery slot (this is known as battery cpr)...........from DL mode *fingers crossed here!* you simply connect cable, open ODIN, + run your CWM flash, again, allowing install cycle to complete (watch for green light at top left, w/ 'pass' noted) .............this time wait a lttle longer before (1) pulling the cord, then (2) pulling the battery.

Q: what ROM were you running prior to your brick?

*edit: looks like this has been solved, t'was a soft-brick.

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0- RC2

Oh my god would you all stop freaking out? There's nothing wrong with RC2. It's a vastly more stable build than RC1, it just doesn't backup the gapps upon install (gapps were never "part" of the rom to begin with anyway). All you guys have to do is re-flash gapps. Nothing to "be trusted" or not. Just re-flash gapps. Can you all handle that? Re-flash gapps and you're done.

Zeinzu, is there a camera focus bug in CM9 RC2? I don't remember where exactly I read about this, but it makes me hesitant to flash this ROM. I use the camera feature extensively and I don't want it broken...

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0- RC2

okay, i cant figure out what im doing wrong,

Stock Gingerbread not rooted, nothing i installed CWM like i was supposed to, started up in recovery mode and it says it can find any of the cache's, ignoring that i try to install the CM updates and it fails everytime, okay maybe something was wonky on my phone so i flashed back to complete stock everything with odin, waiting for a full boot, then shut down and re-rooted still the same thing...

Any help would be greatly appreciated here..

Thanks in advance

for refrence im using these instructions

REMEMBER: making changes to your device is 100% a choice YOU make, no one else to blame if YOU change the karmic course of your beloved device from good to bad..............stay awake + profit!

[1] See links below, download necessary files to pc + place CM9_beta4 file into your downloads folder on microSD Card (this requires you to connect your device to pc, ensuring all necessary drivers are in place for your upcoming session w/ ODIN; .....also, give the ODIN thread a good read, then:
[*] BACKUP
[2] Power OFF device
[3] Device to Download Mode by pressing '1' + Power Button at same time
[4] Open ODIN on your pc, connect device to pc using mUSB cable, make sure ODIN detects your device as connected
[5] ODIN CWM5.0.2.7 Recovery (place 'CWM5.0.2.7' file in 'PDA' slot + select 'PDA' ONLY, do not select 'autoreboot' then click START.......await for ODIN to complete cycle (**DO NOT STOP this process, as this could very well brick your device**)
[6] when CWM install is complete, in ODIN you'll see the word 'PASS' in green > disconnect device from PC > pull battery from device for a few seconds, place battery back into slot
[7] then 3-finger boot to CWM Recovery ('down' button, 'camera' button + 'power' button simultaneously....then from CWM Recovery:
[9] flash CM9beta4 by (this will modify your CWM to 5.5.0.4 MTD + establish SU root)
[10] while still in CWM Recovery, after CM9_beta4 install completes........flash GApps20120429 file
[11] boot to system
[12] CM9_beta4: establish gmail settings + if you have apps stored on PlayStore......from PlayStore, install selected apps one-by-one (play store/menu/MyApps).............etcetera.

CWMv5.0.2.7 is here:

I'm seeing about the same. GB ACS ICS ROM was better for me, but I like CM9, so I'm dealing with it.

Oh, I see now. you don't use your phone. I see it awake twice in that time span. I didn't buy a smart phone so it would sit in my drawer all day (and night).

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0- RC2

After I installed RC2 I obviously had to reinstall gapps. I use 3 different gmail accounts but only have 1 setup to sync. Unfortunately one of the accounts that is not supposed to sync the calendar is still syncing. Any advice? Should I remove the email account and re-add it in hopes of it not syncing?

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0- RC2

For some reason my voicemail notification symbol won't go away. I don't have any pending messages. Just started doing this all of a sudden. Anybody else having this issue or know how to fix it?

Fail much? I use my phone plenty. That's why my screen is at almost 40%. I used it for a lot of calls and texts, some browsing and searches, a lot of Tapatalk, some gps, some Pandora, some Youtube, etc. I honestly don't know where you got "I didn't use my phone". The screenshot speaks for itself. The screen % and length of wake times are plenty, and you can see that "right" in the screenshot, so look again because you're not paying attention or just don't understand what you're seeing or how to judge out the wake lines vs 38hrs. I just don't have any unnecessary wakes during standby, and I just don't sit on my phone for hours at a time. Smartphones are still built to assume people have a life and aren't going to have their phone out non-stop the entire day. If the people complaining about crap battery life are the ones who use their phones for 4-6 hours non-stop, then stop blaiming the rom, because it's "you".

And if you add up the wake times of me apparently "not" using my phone, you'd see it was active roughly a third of the total 38hrs. That's roughly 12hrs of foreground and background activity over 38hrs on a single battery charge.

Next time you come at me with snarky remarks, have a real argument.

Zeinzu, could you scroll up and see my questions about RC2? I appreciate some help, thanks in advance...

Yes, camera focus is non-functional in CM9 currently. Was there anything else you needed to know?

Well, clearly you aren't the friendliest guy. So, I have to assume you aren't talking to many people close to you.

What is it that you use your phone for? If your phone is awake for 5 hours straight, but you show no apps in the percentages, what was the screen on for? Since media server is on there, are you watching movies with the brightness all the way down?

Teach me, zen master.:)

I was just sharing my experience to let the guy know that others are seeing the same thing. It hurts to be called a hater. I like CM9. I donated. Sheesh.

I think there are lots of variables from the battery being used to settings to signal that can lead to wide variation in % drop/time, so it's great that you are getting good life, but I'm just not seeing it for whatever reason.

Re: [ROM][EPIC 4G][CM9] CM9: CyanogenMod v 9.0.0- RC2

Rooted an Epic for a friend of mine friday. Called me today and said she's had no problem so far except the emoticon button on the keyboard. Searched the thread and didn't find much more than further conformation that the problem existed. Anybody found a fix for it other than just maybe grabbing a keyboard from google. Also, I did notice reading through about the rom that another issue was the 4g toggle. Is that still an existing problem? Fix? Took a big gamble flashing an ICS rom on a phone for a first time root user, but overall looks like it was a great choice. Didn't have much time to play with it much after I did it, but it appears to be a great rom and surprisingly stable. Nice job!

Did you flash the most recent? There's nothing wrong with the 4g toggle. It works fine in the newest builds. The smiley key is not a part of AOSP so it probably won't be implemented into the ROM unless someone finds an open source fix.

I believe so. Got the RC2 build. Didn't get to the point of any nightlies yet. Wanted to make sure she was even gonna wanna keep ics rather than gb before i got into trying to explain all that. She hadn't said that the toggle didn't work, I just remembered seeing it in the forum somewhere. Well if that is the only thing that doesn't work is one key on the keyboard, I gotta say I'm pretty impressed and jealous that I can't flash this on anything I have lol. Thanks for the input.
