Re: [ROM][PORT][JB][07/29/12]CyanogenMod 10 [Alpha 4]

So maybe they thought they solved the bricking issue with the kernel but they really didnt? Thats really scary.

Yeah I am not a noob to flashing and I know I did everything right... oh well these things happen... lol and my phone is just a week old :)

I would always suggest using el26 cwm. I've never run into a single issue going from cm9 to cm10 or anything else for that matter. Seems like a safe bet.

Well I just got a brick... using 41g-CWM-RC1-b3-0723 ... telling my story so others can watch out... followed directions in OP to the letter and still a brick :'(

That's strange, i just used the same one. Flashed the .zip through cm9 recovery. The only thing i did different from the OP was flash calks format_all_2_times, then cleared everything manually after that. No brick for me. Needless to say i was giddy as a schoolboy when it booted. What could be the cause of these bricks?

It looks like wiping data inside a aosp/ics recovery. Calks format all script is safe form of wiping cause it uses a GB Update Binary. Users need to not manually wipe data in ics recovery.

IF ANYONE USES CWM6 THEN USE THE RC2_5 CWM6! Although i would recommend using el26 to be safe. CWM6 has been pretty sketchy in my experience with it.

Next update will use a GB Update Binary. We will see how it works out.

Hope I shed some light on any problems with that. Thanks for all your hard work! It's ridiculously amazing how much you've gotten accomplished since everyone got their hands on that kernel!

Chris41g. Darchstar. And Sfhub are the experts on this Emmc lockup bug. Ill do my best to make it safe.

Re: [ROM][PORT][JB][07/29/12]CyanogenMod 10 [Alpha 4]

Using CWM6, not TWRP, follow instructions to the T, and you will NOT brick. If you do, it's your fault. There are very odd chances hundreds of people do it successfully and 1 doesn't.

So I hate to be the one to ask, but with the directions, is the sd card the internal memory?

Just Odin EL26+CWM5 guys. It barely adds any time to the process. Play it safe for now until more is known. Might help to PM sfhub and Entropy too to see if they can drop in, download the files and see where the offending function may be.

Re: [ROM][PORT][JB][07/29/12]CyanogenMod 10 [Alpha 4]

Re: [ROM][PORT][JB][07/29/12]CyanogenMod 10 [Alpha 4]

Updated to alpha 4 for US Cellular ... If you use GB Binaries would that fix anything that is broken, or does that just make it less likely to cause a brick?
