In recovery it says I am running cwm 2.5.1.2 and in Rom manager it says I am running cwm 3.0.0.7, I think this is why I am getting a boot loop when I try to flash a Rom any ideas of how to fix this. Oh and I have tried to flash different kernels no changes.

You should probably upgrade your Clockwork to 3.0.0.8.

You can try it in ROM manager, select Menu-> Settings -> Erase Recovery

Then in ROM Manager go to all clockwork recoveries and flash 3.0.0.8

It should reboot you and flash the latest clockwork on your phone - You'll know your good if the text in recovery is orange instead of green.

I appreciate all the help and suggestions, but I actually downgraded from 3.0.0.7 in hboot because I was trying to flash a z Rom which needed cwm 2.x.x.x, so should I just give up trying to flash the z Rom and update cwm to 3.0.0.8

You can downgrade in rom manager - all recoveries i think it's called, towards the bottom. Just select the one you want.

Or you can hit that doug piston link, download the 2.x recovery you want, rename the file pb31img.zip and place on root of your sd card, and install via hboot. Then erase the file from your sd card afterwards.

You could download a 2.x.x.x cwm from inc bits (Doug Piston's app) and apply it from hboot.

Edit: And I see I'm a little slow off the draw...
