Not sure if this is posted elsewhere but I used rom manager to install cwma recovery last night. I chose the optimus V as my phone type and it all went smooth. After it was done, I booted to recovery and then rebooted. It booted up fine, I'm still worried about it tho. Should I go back to xionia cwma because its for my optimus S or will the optimus V version work just the same. Thanks for the help!

Honestly you should go back to Xionia CWMA. AFAIK ROM Manager does NOT support the Optimus S and quite a few people have bricked their phones trying to use it.

I'm thinking about sending Koush our Xionia CWM so that he can make it official. He said if you can get everything working correctly then he will "officially" support it, and thus add it to Rom Manager. Also, (I know this is OT) I was thinking that since the Optimus V drivers are the same as the Optimus S drivers (inferenced by the fact that the Optimus V CM rom works on the Optimus S, with the addition of our kernel and APN's), I can start syncing nightly CM builds and building them with the Optimus V drivers... so in essence taking over Zefie's CM ROM.

So I know the s recovery works on the v. Does the v recovery work on the s? I know the buttons are swapped.

There were some problems with lcd drivers, but zefie fixed that in the latest recovery of his

Thanks for the info. The reason I asked is that on Facebook clockwork page it was asked if the ov roms were compatible with os and vice versa. I know from experience that the os recovery worked on ov just wasn't sure if ov recovery worked on the os.

The latest ClockworkMod Recovery 3.2.0.0 and all the way back to CWM-3.0.0.6 have been100% compatible with all optimus variant's(s,v,t,m,one and any I might have missed) I personally have been using these recoveries since CWM-3.0.0.6. w/ no issues.

Xionia CWM is very outdated compared to the current official ClockworkMod Recovery wich is 3.2.0.0.

If that's the case, why has it not been "officially" supported here? AFIAK, ThunderC and Xionia CWMA are the proven recoveries for the Opti-S. I have seen no instructions here to load the official CWM here.

So what functionality would ROM manager / CWM 3.2.0.0 add to the current recovery options? Are the backups cross-compatible?

That's because CM7 development has all but disappeared on androidcentral for the Optimus S.

So what what cwm should I use for.my opti-s I would like the newest if I can or what ever is the best. Thank I am running cm7 right now

I would say Xionia. Niether Nick, Ksmith or the dev crew has said to use ROM Manager and CWM.

Download Rom Manager from the market and choose the Optimus V from the menu that pops up. If the home or menu button doesnt work while in recovery use the camera button on the right side (bottom-most button)
