Hi guys. this is my first post here and i just want to say thanks first of all for all the info provided on this site its been very helpfull. My question is i rooted my phone with superoneclick and just ran that way for a couple weeks with several reboots just to confirm i was really rooted. then installed Rom Manager from the market and proceded to flash clockworkmod 3.2.0.1 custom recovery everything going smooth this far did a nandroid backup and went into download rom and flashed aospCMod to my phone successfully. since then i've also flashed to jerrys Backside IHO rom supplied by Rom Manager download rom and then flashed the newest 09162011 build from SDCard. So while im happy with my success i keep reading of other people having problems doing basically what i did and ending up with bricked phones. Why would/could it work for me but not others.....?? i guess i shouldn't complain but i'd still like to have a better understanding of it.

Well I guess from the silence nobody has an idea why and I should just be happy its working.

Lol thx for the reply. I did some more reading and I should have noticed before in the sticky. My guess now is that my phone must have the old v screen and not the newer s one

I also have the old screen. Very thankful about it, though it looks as if most of the devs have gotten the adjustments under control.

Hmm... I keep reading rom manager does not fully support the v. Is that just due to the new s screen or is there more to it? Trying to decide if I should change to a different custom recovery.. It's been working good for several flashes now but all the threads with ppl having problems with it on the v make me nervous.

I Hope I'm not taking away from thread. I believe my problem can be looked at because it falls in the same category. I am new to this and this is my first post. I have have tried to read around for my problem but i have found devs and people talking about it. First i have already rooted and successfully installed( Inferior Human Organs unofficial CM7.1). I was very happy and excited to have gingerbread and all the great extras in the roms. One thing that i was most excited about and made the move to install roms was for the excitement of customs themes and skins. Like the pull down bar for instance. Well the problems seems to be that the rom manager recovery will not let me install zips from the sd card. I have try to understand and figure what i need to do to address this. I get this error (Amend scripting (update-script) is no longer supported.
Amend scripting was deprecated by Google in Android 1.5.
It was necessary to remove it when upgrading to the ClockworkMod 3.0 Gingerbread based recovery.
Please switch to Edify scripting (updater-script and update-binary) to create working update zip packages.) I have bang my head and tried to understand what i need to do to fix this. Its seems I cant find the solution. They say I just need to install a different recovery but my Rom Manager Update Recovery is locked and when I try to fix the edify i cant get it or find were that is. Now it may be something stupid and small that this noob who is me cant figure out. I did this rom install not for over clocking all the other stuff but for the true customs skins. Like the pull down bar. Or like turning the google search bar dark grey which I want soo bad. I know its small and i should just be happy with what i got but man. I would sure love to be able to flash from my sd card again because there soo many goodies out there. Not just themes. All sorts of stuff. If any one could help and this other nice guy that started this thread I would sooo much thank you. Till then I will be happy with what I got and dream of that wonderful day were I can go to my recover and flash me some goodies. I have been following this issue in another thread but don't know the rules about posting another link so i am not going too. Please help:'(

I got that error alot with cwm 3.201, i got it alot less when i reverted back to cwm 3.028, i switched again to xionia_6 and haven't had any problems since, i can't say it works for everyone, but it did for me

well funny thing too. I got my green machine in too. When I try to flash say Dark Google search bar and others like that i get the error. Maybe not dark google not compatible with my rom. I wounder. Thanks for the reply's guys :)

Basically there's two types of scripting for when you're installing a ROM, update, anything from a zip. There's amend and edify. Amend was used with the older versions of Android (I believe up until and including Froyo) and edify is being used more so with Gingerbread ROMs (although there are some Froyo ROMs that are installed that way, Harmonia 1.5-1.6.1c are)

You're probably finding a skin that was made awhile ago with the Amend scripting. Xionia is your best bet as it works with both. :)
