I have a Thunderbolt that I rooted a few weeks back:

I wish to install the Bamf Remix 2.0+ ROM

Q1: Do I install as follows: Backup Apps to Sim ~~> Delete/wipe the existing Rom ~~~> Install New Radio ~~~Install Bamf...(Does sequence matter Rom/Radio?)

Q2: Do I have to install a Gingerbread Radio with Bamf 2.0? If so are there any stable ones as I they a lot of posts here and at xda that they are buggy

Q3: What Kernal is best/stable....if I want to install a new Kernal how would that affect Q1?

Q4: My current Radio (which might be stock...might not ...I did the one-touch root and cant remember and am not even sure where to look) seems to drop 4g lte network a lot ...(as in no stable connection)....is this a radio issue or the fact that I download a lot and Verizon is throttling bandwidth? Guesses? Assume I am in top 5% downloaders.

***Please read this first before considering installing any BAMF 2.0 or any GB-radio based ROMs!!!:

1. You'll want to backup your apps and data first -- see my guide here:
http://forum.androidcentral.com/thu...store-apps-data-when-installing-new-roms.html
You can flash the ROM and Radio in any order to choose, assuming you are not changing Froyo to GB or vice versa. If going from one to the other, I think most recommend flashing the radio first (Be sure to check your MD5s!). See better instructions for that on the ROM info page as well.

2. Yes, you can't install BAMF 2.0 without the GB radio...and based on the link I posted above, I wouldn't recommend doing that right now.

3. Kernels can also be flashed independently of the ROM, but I can't offer much advice on this question.

4. Go to Settings --> About Phone --> Software Info. If the baseband version is 1.16.00.0402w_1, then you have the most recent (OTA) radio, if it is 1.16.00.0223r, then you have the original stock radio.

Keep in mind that these numbers only indicate the CDMA (3G) radio version, so if you've flashed a custom combo radio, the 4G radio version is not displayed here -- otherwise you can assume the 4G LTE radio that is currently installed is the one that was released with the corresponding 3G radio.

the remix is amazing, it is smooth and awesome. only thing is, im getting quite a bit of reboots. but i hope they go away.

Stay away from GB ROMS for now, unless you go with CM7.

Here is the Remix Froyo version: [ROM] [05.08.11] BAMF Remix 1.6.3 - Please read my post on pg. 334!!! ** - xda-developers This comes with an optimized kernel, or you can try Imoseyon's lean kernel

Links to radios here: [RADIO] The Obligatory Thunderbolt Radio Thread - xda-developers
After you flash a radio, make sure you delete it from the SD card.

Cyber Warrior's and Pete's guides, has all the info you need to make sure you're doing everything correctly.

So in Summary

So in Summary:

1. Stay away from GB radio because of Bricking
2. Thus the best Bamf Remix that's non GB is v1.63 with the froyo Radio
3. People on the GB Radio are still having reboot issues.

BTW my 3g Radio is 0223r so I suppose if I go the 1.63 route my readio will change along the way?

Thanks all!

Got it....and yes I've seen that Obligatory Radio Thread about 20 times in the last few weeks and I'm beginning to think it needs to have all comments erased and restarted based on the newer radios.

Can't believe 1.63 has hit 334 pages already ...Good Grief!

Thanx for the thorough response....my only question is I had read that when doing any of the GB Roms I was supposed to "wipe" some particular folder in the SD card I think....any ideas? I have read so much I forgot to take notes.....oh and by the way I have the 0223r radio.

Thanks again

The radio you have is the stock one installed during the root process. Its ok since you have not changed it. The only wipe i know of is wipe factory/data reset, cache partition and dalvik cache (some even wipe battery stats). There is a sweet guide on how to do this. It is a sticky at the top of this subforum. Good luck iam on the GB remix i have no reboots just the occasional force close on stuff i was told would do so like the toolkit.

Sent from my das BAMF gingerREMIX'd ThunderBolt!
