Nick has said (just a couple of pages back) that he is planning on making a ZVH (Gingerbread, Android 2.3) based version of Reborn, but has not given an ETA. With this type of thing, you can't really expect or ask for an ETA, but it sounds like an update is being worked on.

I did bring up that a lot of folks who accepted the ZVH updated, from the stock Optimus S ROM, were having severe issues with the update, so perhaps LG's ZVH update is not a dependable base to use yet... I guess we will see.

I just figured I'd wait and see what happens with the follow-up ZVH fix update before jumping to Gingerbread.

Seems that the update is hit-or-miss. However, there is a revert process if you do choose to check it out and it doesn't work well for you. My phone took well to the update and has been running great. And for most, that is the case. For some its just best to go back to ZVD. The worst thing about it is you won't know how your phone will react until you actually update it. LG/sprint hasn't done a great job on this update as I'm sure you can tell by all the reactions and threads about the update.

I really don't want to have to use the Froyo rollback. Not in any hurry. I figured something was up when multiple posts showed up asking how to revert back to Froyo only days after the OTA ZVH update.

Awh yeah.....I never updated because I found out about the GB update here and saw problems arise already...that and laziness caused me to put it off and then I read even more problems..."if it ain't broke don't fix it" and my phone works great as is!!

I'm a little confused. Are you guys talking about updating from Reborn 2.2.4 to Stock ZVH? Not sure why anyone would do that, since Nick is working on a new, ZVH (Gingerbread) based update to Reborn and apparently going from Reborn to Stock ZVH can brick you...

Or are you talking about updating from Stock ZVD to ZVH? Or about the ZVH based Reborn update that hasn't been made yet?

Sorry, just trying to follow.

Going from reborn to ZVH does not brick you, as long as you follow directions. Once you get to stock ZVH(rooted) you can of course add custom recovery and then new roms.
And the ZVH reborn update Nick is working on will only work on ZVH radio. So if your running reborn 2.2.4 you will need to update to ZVH before you could use this rom when it does come out.

Always happy to help, Hit that thanks button if I did

Ah, that makes perfect sense. Please excuse my lapse of mental faculties. :) It's been so long since the ZVD update that I had forgotten the process...

Sorry for the confusion. Meant I didn't want to flash V9 recovery, update to ZVH just to find my phone goes haywire and needs the rollback update after all.

Sprint must have something in the works as a more universally stable update. I just imagine the baseband changing again, the way it did between ZVC and ZVD.

Is there a way to uninstall the ROMs built-in Music app in order to install the latest version of Google Music Beta (Ice Cream Sandwich version)?

You don't need to. You can have the Google Music Beta app installed alongside the stock Music app.

Drew: Thanks for your reply. When Nick7 updated this ROM to v2.2.3 he replaced music mod with Google music. I tried to uninstall the app and was not able to. I attempted to install the latest version of Music Beta (several different ways) and was unsuccessful.

Any thoughts on what to do?

Thanks!

I was able to install it successfully. Mind you, its possible the latest non-market version simply doesnt support Froyo.

I figured it out-- when I was out running it dawned on me to use Titanium backup to delete the app, the backup of the app, then reboot to recovery and clear cache, restart and install the app.

Big time thanks to nick (and all the devs actually) for this. I know it's not the latest and greatest, but I didn't want to mess with zvh yet and this was my first rom flash. I was looking for stability and a performance increase. Reborn delivers in spades. I've been browsing the rooting and roms section just for kicks since I got the phone 10 months ago. Didn't really plan on rooting, Was fine with stock and was even excited to get the GB update when it finally came out. Then after all that time waiting, Sprint releases the most craptastic Gingerbread update ever. So it was either stay with Froyo, or time to root.
Since I had been reading about it for so long, it was pretty easy. I even knew to flash the "debug-format" file to avoid problems.
I only had 2 issues. One was the hard buttons not waking up the phone anymore, because for me, having to always hit the power button to wake the phone was a pita. The other was the voice dialer not working. It would just open up the call log. Neither was a deal breaker, they were just minor annoyances. But low and behold the fix for both is in the thread. (More props to Nick).

Anyway I found another little glitch that maybe someone has a fix for. Since the stock browser sucks, I changed the shortcut icon on the dock bar (at bottom of the screen), to open Dolphin browser instead. The problem is that the stock browser icon eventually overrides this and replaces itself. It always happens after a reboot and occasionally at other times. Anyone have a way to keep that from happening?
I already have DolphinHD set as the default browser.
Freezing the stock browser (with titanium) does work, but causes other problems. Without the stock browser, voice search doesn't work. So anyone have ideas?
