[ROM] Stock Rooted 4.67.651.3 (Android 2.3.5)

Ok. Here are the Instructions for Updating your HTC Evo 4g rooted with Revolutionary recovery. I hope some people find that this update is pretty painless and easy.

Step 1: Download one of the rooted Update Roms from Brad. Read the thread to see which one is right for you. (Thanks Brad!)
Step 2: Plug your phone to your computer using the USB cable. Select Disk Drive on your phone.
Step 3: Copy the rooted 2.3.5 Rom to the root folder of your SD card on the phone.
Step 4. Rename the file you just copied to the SD card to update.zip
Step 5. Once the file is renamed, unplug the USB cable and Power off the phone.
Step 6: While the phone is off, remove the battery for a few seconds.
Step 7: Once the battery is replaced, you are going to start in Recovery Mode by holding the Power and Volume Down buttons at the same time. Hold them down until you see the Revolutionary HBOOT screen.
Step 8: Use the Volume Button to go to the the Recovery option. Once highlighted, press the power button. The phone will now boot to the Revolutionary Recovery console.
Step 9: Scroll to Backup and Recovery and enter into this section and backup you current Rom. (if you prefer not to backup you can skip this step, but it recommended.)
Step 10: Once the backup is finished, Go Back to the main menu and select the Update from the SD Card option. On the next screen, scroll to the Yes (sdcard/update.zip) and hit the power key to enter. The phone will now start the update.
Step 11: When the update is finished, Select Reboot Now from the menu and the phone will restart. You are now updated to the rooted stock 2.3.5 Rom.

* You will NOT lose your apps or data if you follow this method.
* This does not update the Radio, that is a separate procedure. I have great data speed and connectivity so I don't want to mess with my radio.
* I did not experience any data storage loss when performing this update method.
* No more Carrier IQ installed on this update from what I can tell.

Good luck and I hope these instructions help.
Where do I find the downloads from Brad and how do I know which one to use for my phone? My SD card does not have a folder named root. PLEASE HELP!!!! THANKS. Alan.

I'm confused. The links to the ROMs are in the first post of the thread. You flash them using your custom recovery. As long as it's on your SD card somewhere, you'll be able to navigate to it in recovery and flash.

The "root" folder on your SD card isn't actually a folder. The "root" is the top-most level of the SD card - that means not in any folder.

Stupid question: How do I know which download to use, My Baseband version is 2.15.00.0808. What do I do? It is not one of the radios that you have listed. Thanks.

I'm really confused now. The stuff in the first post is so you can upgrade from your current setup. Is that not what you're trying to do? What exactly are you trying to do?

I have a rooted Evo 4g, I used unrevoked to root, and I downloaded the odex version of 4.67.351.3. Once I rebooted I have the memory card notification on my notification bar with a question mark on it! I get a message that my sd card is empty or unrecognized software installed! So I had to restore back to what it was before I installed it. Why am I gettin this message? Oh and prior to gettin the odex version I checked using Root Explorer to see if I need the Odex or Deodexed version. Have you heard of or dealt with this before? PLEASE HELP!

ok so i've gone threw this site with a fine tooth comb and i cant seem to find with my eyes an answer to what i want. i figured this would work the best sense im wanting to just root but keep everything else. im running android 2.3.5 with build number 4.67.651.3 CL239674, and all i want is a simple root.

Ok, I'm about to flash the Odex version to my Revolutionary rooted EVO 4G. Still can't figure out what Odex is, but I guess I'll find out when my phone catches fire...

My main question is: Trent.Tbone.Walker midway through the thread was nice enough to post step by step directions for those of us who don't live this sort of thing. But he purposely left out how to flash the radios, because he didn't need it for his application. But I was hoping someone else out there might give instruction on doing so for those of us who are not so certain that we can't benefit from it. I'm guessing Brad posted them for a reason. Is it done the exact same way as the ROM update?

Thanks.

Yes, from what I recall, it's mostly the same - you just choose the zip file from where you saved it with the boot loader, and that's pretty much it.
