Rom updates on Chinese tablet

Have just purchased a Cerebro 8" tablet which I eagerly await delivery.

Do ROM updates apply only to specific models or to processor families e.g. Processor on Cerebro is a WM8650 at 800Mhz so would any ROM update be suitable please

I don't think you can upgrade the ROM by yourself. Probably you can send your tab back and ask the maker to do it for you.
