[ROM][WIP]CM9.1.0-BobZ

I'm hoping someone can answer this question for me....I have been running the 9/30 build of this great rom since it came out & haven't run into any major issues, maybe a little lagging here & there with certain apps, & with Nova Launcher sometimes. I ran across a thread on another forum about an app/script that will Odex the phone again from a De-Odexed rom. It was stating how the phone would be smoother & more responsive if Odexed. I understand that I would lose the ability to make any major customization changes to the rom/phone after odexing, but I was wondering if I have all of the Customizing done that I want to do, and then I run this app to Odex the phone again, Would I run into problems with the new Script that is in this rom now? the "A2SD++" script? because this new script the Dev added to this rom is GREAT, and has been working perfectly, saving me all kinds of internal storage. But I don't want to mess that up if I try to Odex the phone, and also would I gain anything, speed-wise, by Odexing the phone? thank you for you help in advance......

Make a nandroid backup and give it a try. If everything gets screwed up, just restore it.

I get random reboots, not very often since the update, but: today it happened 3x in a row, other than that it occurs occasionally.. Today I dropped my CPU down to 748 to see if that makes a difference. The only other issue I can think of is that when I tried to update Swype it gave me the "out of memory, please uninstall... sort of thing". This is the Swype beta currently available BTW. So after a few reboots I uninstalled it, reinstalled it hoping it would be the latest version, and it worked just fine (my available memory I think was 28mb at the time, so I don't know why I was getting the 'not enough memory' thing).

[through TB]
System ROM: 174/24mb
Internal: 187/25.6mb (system shows 24.44mb, Tuner shows up a little more than that - too small for my vision;))

Wow! That is different I just found a new screen! (while using TB on the "Overview" tab I accidentally pressed upon the memory listing at the bottom) - shows the App/Data/Cache info of every app!

Cool:cool:

Just an FYI - I LOVE this ROM. Thanks BobZ.

EDIT: I am curious about changing superuser, even though this doesn't apply to this thread - some info?

Hi,

I just tried this rom for the first time, overall it's good, but I have a weaker signal comapred to the Mirage ROM.

Has any of you experienced bad signal with that ROM?

Cheers

I usually run this around 480/600 with the interactivex governor. I can't oc much past that on this rom, but that seems plenty fast to run this rom super smoothly. You shouldn't be getting out of memory messages if you are running the latest build where BobZ added the a2sd script, and you have a properly formatted SD-ext partition. Can you use a root explorer-type app and confirm that your apps are ending up on the SD-ext partition?

MiRaGe is super stable, and it's built from source by a developer who knows what he's doing. I'm not saying that Bobz is an inferior developer, by any means, it's just that CM9.1 still has some minor issues, while CM7 is pretty mature at this point. If you want a ROM that just works out of the box, without the flashy new UI, MiRaGe is a solid choice.

Yes, it's a really good ROM, the best gingerbread ROM out there IMO
But I am having some headset issues on it with some apps like Viber, sometimes the sound randomly jumps from the headset to the phone and I have to unplug and plug back my headset to hear sound again...

Beside that, as I said great rom with good battery/performance...

Yeah, my apps are on sd-ext. I'm not going to worry the low memory issue unless it happens again, since this only occurred with the swype app. I also dropped down to 748 and haven't had any more random boots - if I do I'll drop it down more and see where that gets me.

Thanks.

EDIT: well today (20 Oct) I noticed that I'm getting out of memory for updates also... I can only think that I inadvertently changed some setting. Onward to nandroid, a full wipe (and for good measure repartition my ext). I did install/inject the amphetamines 1 script but that was weeks ago so it doesn't seem to me that would be the cause, haven't installed any apps to cause this (that I remember) so this seems to be the logical step.:p

Onward and forward!!!

I was able to "fix" my low memory problem when trying to install some apps:

Even though I had/have 30-35mb internal memory free some apps just wouldn't install. I'd tried removing apps one by one to make more room but even when I had around 50mb the larger apps wouldn't install (for instance Alarm Clock Ultra). So I re-flashed and made sure to install my larger apps first.

Which leads me to my next question: now that the Dalvik cache is back on the ext partition why is so much internal memory used? When I used links2sd (and around 150 apps) I still had 60-70mb free.

Any ideas? Still just LOVE this rom!

EDIT: I was too soon believing that my problem was solved. After trying to update some apps I received the "insufficient storage" error again on a couple apps. I'm stumped. I skimmed through the post, again, is nobody else having this issue?

Is there any way to disable the a2sd script? Maybe I could go back to using links2sd to circumvent my issue....

It is the rom that not only I use, but also the rom that I installed on my wife's and sis-in-law's phone. It is rock solid but not very flashy.

I liked Bob's stuff but I was suffering from several data drops each day and bad battery life. I loved his stuff so I am waiting to see if the bugs are worked out. I am starting think that cm7 will be the last really stable OV version.

When you install are you formatting data and SD-ext first? If you really want to get rid of the scripts you can go to system/etc/init.d and delete the scripts in there that are related to moving stuff to the sd-ext. I don't remember what they are called in the last build, because I know BobZ tinkered with them. Also I don't know if link2sd will work once you get rid of them. If I recall the op says not to use it, and I don't know if that was because of the init.d scripts or some additional reasons. The a2sd script that BobZ modified in the last build works so well for me, and I love it. I wish we could figure out why it's not working on your phone.

Partition

In the past I've used the link2sd for my second partion, but with this rom I notice it says it will automatically utilize the second partition. My question is, how does that work or how do you enable it to work. Thanks, just trying to figure out why Instagram keeps FCing and why I'm running out of room even though I have the second partition. Thanks guys

It works like link to SD but without any interface. It is enabled by default.

Normally I wipe cache & Dalvik-cache, format system/data/cache, and use 'update wiper' to do the same + format my sd-ext partition. Lately I've used Windows to format and/or re-partition it to make sure I get a good clean format.... not sure what is causing this issue. On the previous build a2sd wasn't working for some reason (even after multiple flashes) so I installed link2sd (even though the instructions said not to) and everything worked well - . After installing this build everything was working fine (the first couple of weeks I only installed necessary apps) until I began restoring the other apps I occasionally use - that's when I noticed my internal memory dropping. I counted the apps on my sd-ext and it seems that they are all located there at least it looks that way, but I also don't know exactly what's in my internal memory. When I browse data/app it shows the same as sd-ext (I think that's what it's supposed to show).

I don't need all of the apps I usually have installed but it is convenient for me, and I'd love to figure this out.

Anyway thanks.

Well, that's a very thorough wipe. You could try the original chronmod a2sd++ script. You'd have to remove Bob's script from thr rom.zip's init.d and copy in the 40a2sd++ script from the same folder in chronmod's .zip. Several people did this with the previous build and it worked well. I think clodfelterac (sp?) posted this link in this thread a ways back. Bob incorporated it, but made a few changes. You could try to flash it like that, and if that doesn't work flash it with no a2sd script at all and try link2sd.
