Re: [ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread) - 7/9/2011

I pull directly from blarf's git. My fork is not updated with his newest changes.

That would explain a lot.

Nope looks like he left OpenSSL in the manifest. I'd blow everything away and download again and make sure you're using the gingerbread branch.

(All from the working directory)

rm -r cm7build
mkdir cm7build
curl http://android.git.kernel.org/repo > ~/cm7build/android/system
chmod a+x repo
repo init -u git://github.com/inferiorhumanorgans/android.git -b gingerbread
repo sync
. brunch/envsetup.sh
brunch cyanogen_thunderc_VM670-eng

OUPUT:
bootable/recovery/dedupe/dedupe.c:3:25: fatal error: openssl/md5.h: No such file or directory
compilation terminated.
make: *** [out/host/linux-x86/obj/EXECUTABLES/dedupe_intermediates/dedupe.o] Error 1

Same error. I'm going to remove the recovery from the make becuase it isn't even needed. That should lead to completed build.

Re: [ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread) - 7/9/2011

Don't use brunch (in true open source fashion, none of that CM build **** is documented, ohai koush *rolls eyes*).

pull in build/envsetup.sh
run lunch
run make otapackage

Also there is no such directory 'brunch', so I'd expect ". brunch/envsetup.sh" to fail and leave you with a non-working build environment.

Build #5 still has default language set to "Md (United States)

Sorry but isn't including the Torch app kind of pointless seeing as we don't a camera led? Or is it going to increase the light intensity on the hardware keys led?

And what's the difference between breakfast, brunch, and lunch commands?

Re: [ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread) - 7/9/2011

Yes, I'm going to take Torch out (ath3nos hasn't picked up on that yet so his builds aren't affected). As an added bonus it crashes when you try to do anything with it. Utterly useless, but I was hoping to avoid having to install a third party "flashlight" app that will display a bright white screen without ads.

Are you running repo in the android/system directory? I wouldn't put it past Google to have hardcoded some of the build stuff to be in foo/android/system/.

The different commands set up different parts of the build environment as best I can tell. I guess brunch will also fire off make. Lunch will not (useful when you only want to rebuild part of the mess). Unsure what you mean about the language.

Repo is at /home/user/workingdirectory/android/system

And about my language bug: After I install the ROM, on first boot if I navigate to Settings > Language and Keyboard the language will be "Md" instead of English. It also changes some of the letters on the keyboard. I set it to English and the bug is gone.

Re: [ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread) - 7/9/2011

I can confirm the bt issues are the same as the same in this rom as the other gb versions for our device. The audio from games, music, videos, the web, pandora comes thru with good audio quality but when you make a phone call audio goes blank when you tap the bt button to turn it off the person couldnt hear me while it was on but out of six test calls two of them started off producing a static garbled noise that lasted for about five seconds before it went blank. I use a jawbone icon and works perfect on reborn rom use it allday to talk. didnt know how to post my test or where
I'm on an Optimus V and haven't had time to switch over to this ROM from aospCM7. But if the Bluetooth issues are exactly the same between the ROMs, this is what I experience on aosp:

Working:
1. Bluetooth file transfer works.
2. Bluetooth audio output works (e.g., BT stereo).
3. Voice Dialer works with Bluetooth (both incoming and outgoing audio).

Bugs:
1. The other party can't hear me during a call, but I can hear them.
2. The phone forgets all Bluetooth devices after a reboot, so that I have to pair them again.

Hopefully I can get this ROM (or better yet, my own compiled build of blarf's source) flashed later in the week to test this stuff directly.

Got a 1249 quadrant and a 1983 antutu benchmark score! Very pleased with the rom. No complaints as of yet.

Re: [ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread) - 7/9/2011

Firstly, I'm really loving this rom it feels much faster than Scott Pilgrim and it's running fine for what I'm using it for (no BT headset right now). Secondly, thanks, basketthis for the data2ext information. I always wondered how people with this phone had so many apps installed....

Ok, now for the hard part, I have a couple of questions about downgrading from this rom.

When I first rooted my phone and switched rom's I didn't do a nandroid first since I'd just gotten my phone back from Sprint and it was wiped anyway. I simply rooted, installed Xionia recovery, the Scott Pilgrim ROM and went on my way. Unfortunately, I think that I'm having provisioning issues now and that means that I need to downgrade to a Sprint based Froyo rom to update my PRL. The short form of this is with my phone running this rom, the Xionia recovery, and data2ext; can I simply run a Nandroid backup, clear system, cache, and data, install something like CleanROM, update my PRL, run another Nandroid backup, then run a Nandroid restore to this rom?

If I can't do it that simply, can someone point me in the right direction. Thanks ^_^

P.S. If there's a way to update PRL on these Gingerbread based Optimus S roms I'd be SO happy to hear it right now....

Do a backup..... Then wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache and wipe dalvik from the advanced option in the first menu of Xionia. Then you need to download and copy a new ROM to the ROOT of your SD card. I am not gonna tell you what ROM to choose.... Then you can Flash that ROM and boot it up. Do what u need from here... and then .. either make ANOTHER backup. or RESTORE your old CM7.

Good luck

With your current build:

What doesn't work with BT? Music playback? Calls? File transfers? Or?

Does wired headset audio work (calls, mic, and music)?

If someone wants to buy me a BT headset, that'd make testing a lot quicker. The only thing I use BT for is a serial adapter for my car.
Can't get BT audio to play through my computer, on the phone BT says it's connected to media audio on the computer and vice versa, however no sound comes through, using both TuneIN and the default media player. I've done this a lot on Reborn rom, so I don't think it's a pebkac error. :-)

I have the android sdk installed, please let me know how I can help you debug.

Nevermind....I did a dirty flash and that fixed it. I can now stream BT media audio to my Laptop (7/9 Version)

Just to be clear, that won't foul up my data2ext when I restore CM7 right? I'm just trying to see if I'll need to re-enable data2ext after my nandroid restore of CM7 since I have too many apps to restore them to the internal data partition now.

Make sure you titanium backup just in case. I believe the factory/data reset on xionia clears the sdext (which is what the /data system is currently stored on) and will wipe your apps and data. If they aren't there afterwards, just simply titanium restore them (after running data2ext --enable of course). :)

In the Optimus V forum, we have a thread which covers manually flashing a PRL using a utility called QPST. Check the stickied reference guide to find the thread.

This rom is becoming hugely popular in the V forum. Looking through your github, I see you actually have some V specific stuff. Is someone developing this rom for the Optimus V as well? I personally know nothing for compiling kernels and roms. So excuse my ignorance. I don't want to step on any toes with the small port I made.

Re: [ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread) - 7/9/2011

Thanks for that information basketthis. I'll just have to make sure that I have enough space on my SD card before I run the backup. After setting aside the 1024 MB for my ext4 partition I'm down to about 1.2 GB free on the FAT32 partition.

Thanks for the PRL information. I may try it next time I have to update my PRL. About the Optimus V port though, if I remember correctly, KemikalElite was working on one.

I just keep 2 nands on my SD. My current rom and a back up of shell rom just to update prl. Reboot to recovery, backup current rom, wipe then restore shell to update prl, then flash back to cm7

Re: [ROM][WIP] Unofficial CM7 (Gingerbread) - 7/9/2011

I just installed this ROM and I love it but I have a question. I am unable to use the app "wireless tether for root users". Am I missing something? Is this because the ROM was built on the LG-LS670 update? Thanks for any response.

Blarf is making this for all the optimus line. So it will eventually include everything for the s,v,m,c,etc. The only thing that needs to be done is use the right vendor tree and specify which phone when building
