trying to help on this wifi issue, it look like if (from a clean build) i restore the wifi access points config file using titanium, it enables the wifi to work. could it be a corupt config file that is throwing us an error when we enable?

it looks like the file /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf file is missing from the build. this is what titanium backs up. however just plaing that file in /data/misc/wifi/ i get error until i reboot. after i reboot it turns on for a few then turns off.

sorry i wasn't able to do much for testing lastnight. hopefully tonight and the rest of this week i'll be able to do some real testing and make some logs for you. i can usually do stuff at night.

it's something with that file. if i replace it manually via root explorer it isn't working but titanium restores it and it works. i am assuming it's a permission thing. i think if i ran a log you'd see an error something like E/wpa_supplicant( 2221): Failed to initialize control interface '/data/system/wpa_supplicant' due to the file not being there.

and i've got time for now. i'm supposed to be working but my vpn is down right now (past 3 hours) so i can't really work. i'm just killing time until later when i get off and get to see some fireworks

Well, I'm making some bacon right now and added that file in. I completely missed it when I was editing. Hopefully it will fix the wifi issue. And hopefully it will do it without screwing up the portable hotspot. Great find!

nice, can't wait to try out the next build.

replacing this file on my end does not break wifi ap so hopefully fixing it in the build won't either.

GL on building, i think this rom will turn out quite nice

Is this going to be open source? I've been wanting to learn about building android from source. I have a build environment setup. I just think it would be awesome if I could use files to try building something that would work on the Optimus.

It is open source. Everything I started from is on github. Check out cyanogenmod, zefie, and mik9 on github for the sources and instructions.

You should still publish your changes. That's how open source usually works.

I think I'll give this a try when I have some spare time. My biggest gripe about the aosp version was that the headphone jack didn't work with a microphone headset.... wonder if this one does....

Regardless, fantastic job with this one.

I will be. I will post a change log here and will link to my github when I have that all set up correctly. I kept screwing it up due to ignorance of how to use it.

Just an FYI, I tried backing up my wireless settings from my other rom and restoring them; wireless works for me now as well.

Updated OP. Thanks hamagc for finding the missing file. v0.2 now has working wifi. On to the next task.

Lol. Yeah, just got done building and posted. Next release might not be for a couple of days as my wife has many doctor appointments tomorrow. But stay tuned and keep me posted on any new bugs or anomalies that occur in the meantime.

As of now, everything seems fine. Wi-fi works. I am happy. I am now using this as my everyday ROM.
