So I used z4 to root my Droid X, and have installed the LibertyX ROM. Now I have installed the Droid X Overclock app, but it says it cannot gain root access. I opened "superuser", and it shows Liberty Toolbox having root access. How to I allow the overclock app root access?

apparently z4 is no longer working.
you'll have to do the manual d2 root method

Weird how a root app stops working when the app didn't change and we didn't get a update. Some ninja update must have been pushed to all our phones.

Not sure where you got that. If you are going by what P3Droid said in tweet yesterday he is running a newer version than .340.

Reply Retweet .DiGTALDementia @P3Droid z4root should be banned it helps to many morons do things they shouldn't be doing. If you can't do it yourself don't do it at all.

That's bizarre - I just used z4 Thursday night, to root my Droid X, after installing the update. What happened in 24 hours?

Ok....I am FAR from an expert on this. This is my first ROM flash. How do I grant a program SU status? I assumed that when I launched it, it would ask for it???

When you open the superuser app it shows what programs that have SU perm., ther should be either a green dor or green android face on the same line as that program if its red just touch it to turn it green.

Yes it should have asked and might have ,,once in my case tho there where several boxes poping open at same time and I missed giving perm and had to do it this way , after I saw it was the only program that didnt and fixed it .

So I had uninstalled the Droid X Overclock app, as it was not working. I just reinstalled it. I then went to SU, and checked, it was not listed. The only app that is listed in SU is Liberty Toolbox. So I figured that maybe I have to launch it first, then it will ask for permission....it did not. It went immediately to the "Root Required" screen.

I re-rooted, using Z4, and noticed that Titanium Backup also cannot gain Root Access.

so i re-rooted with z4
rebooted
titanium opened fine
went into SU and removed titanium
opened it up, it asked for root and got access

i'm running rubiX 1.95 (.340) so i'm not sure if this is a VZW update that caused it to break or not....

I have tried this numerous times now. When I go to launch Titanium Backup, I see a screen that says something like "asking for root access", but never does the screen pop up, that would let me allow it root access. I also cannot grant root access to ROM Manager or DroidX overclock, and if I'm not mistaken, without being able to grant ROM Manager access, I can't even restore my phone back to the stock ROM, and try it all over again.

Any help would be much appreciated.
