Root Nook Color without micro SD?

Hi everyone hope someone can help here....

I had my NC running CM7 from micro SD with no problems so decided to upgrade to a larger capacity micro SD which ended up getting jammed in the micro SD slot. I eventually got it out but damaged the card slot beyond repair. So to cut to the chase is it possible to root the internal memory WITHOUT using an SD card. Is there any way of maybe attaching external micro SD reader via usb and getting it to read?

Sorry for the noob question but i only really bought the NC to root it.

Call BN and get a replacement. The SD reader is poorly designed.

Thanks for that but im in the UK so with shipping costs, plus the fact i had to take it apart to get the micro SD back out i don't think getting it replaced by B&N is an option.

Although its still a great book reader ......
