I rooted the phone. I had done the EB13 install and everything was running great, but I wanted to see if I was using EXT4 or not so I did the 3 finger boot. Then CW began a backup and proceeded to convert to EXT on its own. Guess it was there ready to do that from before. I read that I was going to need a kernel that I didn't have, so I restored before booting the phone again and now it's hung at startup. Any advice?

Ahhh ok, makes sense. Friendly suggestion to Ragnarok: maybe just mention that 2.2 bluetooth features are broken but that standard bluetooth functions (using a headset, listening to music via stereo headset, etc) work? Not a big deal but just a little more clear, hopefully preventing people running from trying the EXT4 filesystem. I myself was ready to flash back to RFS if bluetooth didnt work in the capacity I need it to.

Hopefully that will get fixed for others, as im sure it might be a pain for those who heavily utilize bluetooth..

Thanks. I Odin'd the EXT4 version of EB13 and it's working. Now I have to restore and set everything up again. Is there any way to confirm the EXT4 conversion?

will not connect in debugging mode for root?

had an epic for a bit now and would like to root it just for tethering purposes. read over all of the guides before trying this, and cannot get it to connect in debugging mode.

I have a mac, but am running x64 windows 7 via vmware. the phone DOES connect to both mac and windows in normal mode, but will not connect in debugging mode (one click root says hone not connected).

anyone have any ideas on this?

why is it that when i try and apply a boot animation zip i keep getting the amend scripting is no longer supported after i have done the root and everything runs beautifully? i'm just trying to get a boot animation on, preferably the honeycomb one, but all are giving me the same message when i try to install them. the only one that i get to work does not override the bios, just runs beside it.
p.s. im not the best at this yet :]

If you have converted to CWM v3.0.0.6/EXT4 you no longer can flash zips that were made for CWM v2.x.x.x/RFS system. They need to be converted which isn't hard. Post what you need converted and we can take care of it for you.

1) Odin to EB13
2) Follow Rag's post on root and EXT4/Clockwork Mod 3.0.0.6.
3) Flash the above ROM's
Is this correct?

Also, if I do the above upgrade, I'm assuming I wouldn't be able to use Clockwork to restore back to TER since I would have switched to EB13?

Revert to RFS?

I've been reading quite a bit here and it's been great, thank you. I'm really hoping you guys can help me out of my current minor bind.

I recently finished converting my Epic from RFS to EXT4. Here was the process.

1. Back-up in CWM
2. Complete part 2 of this thread to install the CWM3, convert to EXT4, etc.
3. Back-up in CWM
4. Flash ACE Rom

Now what I would really like to do actually is go back to step 1. The custom roms just aren't for me right now. But restoring the back-up from Step 1 doesn't work (I assume because I'm now on EXT4). What is the easiest way to convert back so I can use that restore point?

I'm guessing I could go back to stock, re-install CWM 2.5 and Froyo and then load it. Is there an easier way though?
