[Root] Samsung Epic 4G Official Froyo EB13 w/Optional EXT4

I've been reading quite a bit here and it's been great, thank you. I'm really hoping you guys can help me out of my current minor bind.

I recently finished converting my Epic from RFS to EXT4. Here was the process.

1. Back-up in CWM
2. Complete part 2 of this thread to install the CWM3, convert to EXT4, etc.
3. Back-up in CWM
4. Flash ACE Rom

Now what I would really like to do actually is go back to step 1. The custom roms just aren't for me right now. But restoring the back-up from Step 1 doesn't work (I assume because I'm now on EXT4). What is the easiest way to convert back so I can use that restore point?

I'm guessing I could go back to stock, re-install CWM 2.5 and Froyo and then load it. Is there an easier way though?

Goto the following link below and it will give you two options to return to stock froyo eb13 deodexed/prerooted/cwm2.5.1.0 & RFS system or stock froyo eb13 deodexed/prerooted/cwm3.0.0.6 & EXT4.

Thanks Paul. I found that after I posted and figured it was probably my best bet. Something weird happened during the Odin process. It failed immediately (which is not that weird) and then the next time I look at my phone it's off and won't turn on, go into download mode, or anything. I tried a bunch of different things, a couple of which led to a weird "phone ! computer" icon. In the end plugging it in with the battery out somehow did it.

SO I just finished flashing the EB13+CWM2.5 on here and we'll see if it'll load my CWM back-up now.

Glad you figured it out. Odin can be very fussy and react strange but its all we have to do restores to stock os, so we have to take the good with the bad. :p

indeed it is, but how do I get to the command line to do it?

You need to be connected still to the OneClickRoot program that did the conversion. Then if memory serves me correctly.

Goto your Start menu on your computer, then RUN option.

Type CMD (press enter)

Type cd (press enter)

adb shell mount (press enter)

I believe you still needed to be connected after doing the conversion procedure to get the same "readout" that is shown in the example of step 7.

I think I know the fix to this. I can't post the fix right now I'm mobile.

Did you find a fix for this? I have the same issue where it is flashing between the stock Sprint boot animation and the one I installed. I've tried a couple different ones in case it was a problem with the animation but I have the same problem with all of them.

Yes actually I have.. You need to remove a file in the system to stop the stock animation from "bleeding" threw with the new bootanimation that your trying to flash.

First let me ask do you have Root Explorer from the Market?

Edit:

1. Make a CWM backup as usual just incase.

2. Flash this file Remove Stock Boot Animation (Flash in CWM3)

3. Immediately afterwards flash the boot animation you picked out in CWM3 format from a454nova's list as you stated or you won't have a boot animation and your device will probably start freaking out throwing up FC's.

4. Reboot your system

5. You should now have a nice new boot animation with no bleed threw from the stock boot animation.. ( I had this happen too)

Is there a tutorial on how to do this on a MAC?

I believe if you use BootCamp on MAC then you can use the Windows methods we provide otherwise you will have to get instructions from our moderator Ragnarokx. He runs a MAC.

Worked like a charm. Thanks a ton. I could live with a choppy startup animation but it doesn't quite have the same "wow" factor. I don't know how you guys learned so much about this but I'm glad you did.

Glad to help. I had the same problem. Actually we owe thanks to Ragnarokx pointing me in the right direction to fix this and I took his advice and created the flash file for you to fix it.
@Ragnarokx, thanks buddy!
