Root without USB?

So my EVO has had a broken USB port for at least 3 months now, I charge batteries with an external charger. I took it to the Sprint store and they won't do anything about it because there's "rust" in my phone. I had it taken apart elsewhere, no rust to be found but Sprint won't do anything. I had to unroot before I took it in (when the USB port still kinda worked) and now I want to root again. Is there any way to root without USB? This stupid HTC Car Panel app decides it wants to open whenever it wants, even when I'm asleep/not looking at my phone which kills my already bad battery life.

you can get SU, ES file explore,r and wireless adb all from the market, get a card reader for your pc and you should be to go

How would I go about rooting without the USB port with all of those apps? I can't use Wireless ADB without root and SU really only works if you're rooted, right?
