Is there a method of rooting that doesn't void the warranty (trip the KNOX counter) ? I usually root all of my Android devices (for backup and advanced settings).

No there has not been any fix around the KNOX tripper, its a risk up to you. There is no way currently to save your warranty

Yes,you can root it with Towelroot, this method does not trip the KNOX counter, but if you have the latest update with the new kernel you must flash the old one via odin
