Root?

I'm running the nk1 build on my verizon GS4. Debating whether I should root? From what I can tell I won't have a lot of choices on custom roms. Is there a good safestrap compatible rom available for my phone? I do want to loose the bloat so that would be a benefit. New to this so any advise would be great.

I rooted with NC5 for the main reason to get access to my SD card. I also renamed a few files that stops the phone from receiving OTA updates. I still have plenty of internal RAM left so there is no need to eliminate bloat. If the need comes up I can do it. I used towelroot.
