Root?

Has anyone rooted their Mate 9? Applied any ROMs? If so, what's been your experience? Was it worth it?

I recently got the Oreo update and it's very very very nice. No problems whatsoever and the battery life continues to be ridiculously good.

I just wondered if there were any compelling reasons to consider rooting/ROMing the Mate 9 to make it even better.

From a general Android POV, the only compelling reason to root or flash a custom ROM is to be able to enjoy your phone for a longer period. OEMs in general tend to drop phone support really fast, and a custom ROM is the only way to bypass that.

There have been a lot of changes to the root process. Will definitely be worth reading up on the steps.
