Rooted but can't install custom recovery!

Wow, okay, so I'm wiping this post cuz I'm an idiot.

The phone isn't the OV... it's the Optimus Slider. DDDDEEEEEEERRRP.

Sorry everyone.

Here's my complete adventure- any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated.

The phone: LG Optimus V on Virgin Mobile running Android 2.3.4 OTA update (fairly recent, as far as I know...)

None of the existing root methods were working (Gingerbreak, SuperOneClick, etc.) after trying them multiple times. I was successful in gaining root by using a one click script written for the LG Esteem.

I have now tried to flash multiple recoveries multiple different ways, including:
- The "Flash Recovery" script written by GNM
- Manually thru adb shell
- From terminal emulator in the phone

Everything works fine with all of the above methods as far as I can tell (with pushing things where they are supposed to go, etc.), but then the phone bootloops at the LG screen when trying to boot into recovery. The phone will boot into android just fine, and I've updated the superuser and busybox apps... it just won't boot into recovery at all.

I've searched all over the web at this point and I can't find anyone having this problem. I suspect that all my issues have to do with changes to the system configuration after the 2.3.4 update. Sooo... has anyone been successful in rooting and installing a recovery after the 2.3.4 update?

I'm familiar with adb and rooting many other devices, and it's pretty frustrating to be getting stumped by this device.

Any help, anyone? Thanks.

Er, there is no such thing as a 2.3.4 OTA Update. Virgin doesnt push updates OTA, they don't push updates at all. Did you buy the phone used? Ate you sure it isn't an older version of CM7? What does it say in the about phone settings menu?

Tapatalkin it from my IHO CM7.1'd, MIUI Themed Optimus V
