you are definately the shyt!!!!! i had the same prob and even went to sprint to get a new one which they did order but dont need it now...now can u tell me the exact way to flash a rom??? thanks alot and once again ure the shyt!!

Welcome to AC! I'm glad this worked for you also.

After you're booted back up just use ROM Manager to install new roms! make sure to make a backup and wipe data (rom manager will prompt you for this), then you're all set.

i tried a rom and tried flashing it but it didnt work...started to but then just loaded up the stock rom. when i try to flash a rom, it looks like its gonna start flashing but the screen goes crazy and just loads stock..

Need help! Evo stuck on start-up screen!!

I have exactly the same problem... my phone keeps rebooting at the startup screen, I have researched for hours and tried everything, and still have the same problem... until ran across this post....

basically my phone says: S-OFF at the top, and my HBOOT ver. is: 0.79.0000

Can you please help me out!!

Put this on the root of your SD card and boot into the bootloader by Vol down + power, it will search for and find this on your sd card. Hit volume up when it prompts you too update. Give it some time too do everything and whatever you do, dont battery pull.

You will end up with a fully working, rooted rom. If you decide to go cyanogen again, grab the g-apps HERE and flash after cyanogen in the same recovery session.

I have tried those steps of putting the PC36IMG.zip like 20 times already, i have even downloaded the zip from different sources, in case i had a corrupted file, but to no avail. It goes thru that whole updating process, but as soon as I reboot, it just goes to the startup screen and like 3 seconds later it reboots again.

I tried doing the 'clear storage' to see if it deleted the files i had on the sd card, but it doesn't do it, cuz when i try to boot up to hboot, the files are still there. I really don't know what going on. BTW, the phone was working fine, I was using the navigator and then it suddenly rebooted, which wasn't surprising becuz it always did that randomly, but only like 1 or 2 times a day, but today it just rebooted and rebooted non stop.

Should the PC36IMG file be the only file in the sd card?? or should I have something else there?

Thanks for your help, its very much appreciated!!

Make sure you only have one PC36IMG on there at a time.

Can you boot into recovery?

Go to the unrooting sticky, and run the RUU. If it doesnt want to run while in the bootloader, go to fastboot and try to run it.
