Got this in my mailbox from a member here (Don't want to ID you, but speak up if you like):

I have rooted 2.3 running on my DX. I tried to run barnacle tether app on it today but my 3G connection became disabled. Then I received a notification asking me if I would like to use the Verizon paid tether app. I then tried to use the browser and every time I tried to load a page I was redirected to this website https://dunsp.vzw.com/newSelfProvisioning/SelfProvisioning

In order to even send you this report I had to uninstall barnacle first.

Anyone else seeing anything similar?

The stock 3g hotspot app works for the rooted Gingerbread for DX so there is no need to use third party root apps until they are updated.

And the stock app is beyond adhoc....nice. I am using hotspot now, free :)

I started having issues with it. I can connect fine but start loosing data. Yesterday I verified it for about an hour without issues and now its bonkers. All I did was install the crt tube off animation. Doubt that would affect it.

Edit: and after a reboot and a couple reconnects its solid. So its a bit buggy... but works. Streaming from Amazon cloud since I don't have SD card....

Edit 2: and it broke again. So its really buggy. Wont turn off the app and data is lost on phone without reboot.

I was having the same problem the op was having it required a reboot to fix the problem have not tried it again since.

I thought it was weird as well you loose your 3g connection completely if you try and start up the 3g hotspot. I thought it was something they were using to track people trying to use the hotspot so I was worried about being charged.
