You would have to find a custom ROM for your carrier and device like AOKP or Cyanogen.

I have stock firmware, rooted, and TWRP, and I'm pretty sure with CWM still in there.
What do I need to add/remove?

OK. Assuming you can find a file fit for your device and carrier, you just need to make a backup of your current ROM, and flash the .zip of the new ROM in TWRP.

Try XDA for ROMs or Cyanogens website.

I just flashed a stock rooted ROM, but it seems none of my data was deleted. I'm assuming that means I'm still not ready to root?

You normally can't OTA when rooted. You would need to download a 4.2.2 ROM.
