Today, I rooted my AT&T Samsung Galaxy S3 and installed Cyanogenmod 10.1 along with the Google Apps for Android 4.2.2. CM started downloading all of my apps automatically, and about ten minutes in, the Google Play store was unable to update/install anything. I went to Settings/Apps/GPlay Store/Force Stop and Clear Cache, and rebooted my phone. Worked for two apps, then same symptoms as before. I decided to reinstall CM and Gapps, factory reset, clear cache, and reboot. Works for a while, same problem as before. Is this a common issue, or possibly just the result of a bad download? I'd really like to be able to use the Play Store.

What version of Play do you have?

When this happened to me, I cleared the cached then deleted the Google Play Store, rebooted the phone and the app downloaded itself.

Did you try checking for problems/solutions in the thread in which you downloaded the ROM? Sometimes they re-post a GAPPS file for specific ROMs that are having issues. XDA is generally the goto place for ROMs, see if your ROM has its own thread there, and see what they suggest. Alternatively, there are several different types of CM10 ROMs available, maybe try a different one, and see if it works better. Follow all the steps they tell you to, ie Clear Data, Clear Cache, Clear Dalvik, Install ROM, Clear Cache, Clear Dalvik..etc

I decided to try another ROM, so I downloaded ParanoidKANGDroid and reused the same GApps package. Had the same problems with the Play Store. Redownloaded GApps and flashed again, and wouldn't you know, it works. Guess it was just a bad download.

EDIT:

Just ReInstalled CM with the GApps package that works, and it's all good. I'm happy with my newly rooted phone now.

Good. I've been using ParanoidKangdroid for months. IMHO, it's the best of the bunch. Smooth, speedy, with no problems. You made the right choice.:p
