I've checked multiple threads, and with everyone having seperate rooted versions/broken links, I wasn't able to find an answer..

I have an Android LG Optimus S. I upgraded my phone and am trying to get my Optimus S back to stock factory settings as well as do the latest update to Gingerbread.

Here are the issues:
1. I can't download the update for Gingerbread even after a successful factory reset (I even got rid of the "SuperUser")
2. I have ClockworkMod Recovery v3.2.0.1 but I think that I ruined the ability to revert back to stock... :/ I need to get rid of that as well.
3. GingerBreak-v1.20.apk is the version that was used originally to root the phone (I think)

What are my options?!? I'm freaking out because I didn't think I'd be this lost, but I should have known because I'm a complete newb at this stuff...

I'm trying to sell this phone asap because we need the money with my wife being pregnant.

Any help would be great! Thanks.

settings -> about device -> sw version. this link will get you back to stock. it sounds like you have zvc or zvd which is froyo since gingerbreak only works with those two. i would run the gingerbreak app again to regain root. then use this link to update to the latest gingerbread (option B which requires root prior to use) and obtain root at the same time.

How do I find that? (Again, forgive my noobiness)
First, what ROM are you on?

The best way would be to follow the Rooting ZVJ guide found in the stickies at the top of the forum. That will, in the end, give you Rooted ZVJ with a custom recovery, which is what I assume you are looking for.

why go to the buggy zvh when you can jump to zvj? use the second link option B and you'll end up with rooted zvj. you need to be rooted before you can use this method though.

OK, it says I'm LS670ZVD

So which link do I take? With the first link you provided, "Step 2: GNM's v1.1.0 Recovery Kernel" link is broken.

Should I delete everything off of my SD card then?

yeah clear your sdcard of whatever you got from the first link as well as any update.zip files.
make sure you're rooted and go with second link, run OPTION B. make sure you have over 100 mb of space before running (on sdcard). i used this method and achieved rooted gingerbread (zvj).

to know if your rooted you'll have SuperUser app installed.

Guys, he wants to get rid of the phone. The quickest thing you can do is reroot with Gingerbreak, install stock recovery, than unroot. Than factory reset (just to be safe, and make sure you don't give any data away) and sell phone. The way to return to stock is the first link in czifro's first post. Reroot and than head there (You need to be rooted to change recoveries, even if it's stock you're switching too;) ). That should set you up right. Just post here if you need anything:)

If you read the 8th post jordoo says that the first link doesn't work because step 2 has a broken link (checked the link myself, it is broken). You need to reroot as mentioned then go to the first sticky to unroot and re-install the lg recovery. this link will also root (opt A). unroot and completely back to stock (opt B).

Start here, to unroot and return to stock. http://forums.androidcentral.com/showthread.php?p=712850 (note the shortcut assuming you still have xionia on the phone)

Once you are back to stock, download this (ZVJ Update.zip Download) and place on the root of the sd card. Boot to recovery (should now be stock recovery if everything went as planned with the unroot step). Choose apply sdcard; update.zip.

If anything here doesn't make sense, let me know. I am glad to help.

Why would you want to return to stock?.....just sell it as a cooler phone after wipeing your data off of course!

For the same reason that you don't buy a modded honda crx. You know the owner dogged it at some point and will probably need work soon. Most rooted phones have been overclocked and a smart consumer wouldn't buy something that could die shortly from being flogged.
