Before I rooted my EVO, SMS worked fine. Now that I've got root, I get the message "The application Messages (process com.android.mms) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." and the "Force close" button. My received text messages show in the notification bar but not in Messages. (well, at least most of them don't, sometimes a few get through) I tried downloading and using Handcent, The error message continued to show up, but my received msgs would show in the convo threads...then received msgs stopped showing up in Handcent as well. 
I returned to stock and things worked fine. But I REALLY want root AND my texting to work properly. Anybody got some suggestions??
I've been trying to find a cause and fix for this but my search has turned up empty. I rooted using Unrevoked Forever, and I've used both the "Sprint Lovers" ROM and Rooted Gingerbread (currently using odexed) that I got here - [ROM][STOCK] --- Version 4.22.651.2 --- Odexed & De-Odexed --- - xda-developers
