Rooted. on 4.4.2 & want to flash update

Rooted as soon as I got this last year to eliminate carrier iq and other bloatware.
BNow I would like to get android 5.0. How do I go about getting an upgrade. I'd rather not revert to stock ROM. Any help would be appreciated. I've never flashed a ROM.

There are a number of good custom LP ROMs. I've looked at several at XDA. Some are based on the stock ROM ( which doesn't necessarily mean that it looks like stock), and some are AOSP.

Yes, please read up about custom recoveries and what ROMs are available for your variant (important!) over at XDA. They have threads detailing the good and bad for each ROM.

You'll absolutely love the G3 running custom firmware!

Obviously I'm completely new to this. XDA will have "101" How-To info on this?

Any semi-major phone forum at XDA should contain stickies with information on how to proceed, links to guides, and advice on how to do things.

Go and see what they have - they should have a Help section too. Read as much as you can - then read it it all again - follow any and all steps you are presented with to the letter. Make sure you are reading the most up to date information as possible. Read everything again and then make full backups.

After 2 or 3 flashes it will become second nature and you'll get arrogant like me and flash ROMs on the train in to work.

Don't do it. The G3 runs great on 4.4. You don't gain anything by updating.

My 2 cents. Take 'em for what they are worth.

Yeah - I'm in this camp tbh. I used to flash something new every other week, but I'm just happy with 4.4 and don't plan to "upgrade" any time soon. Anyone know what might be considered the best 4.4 stock-based ROM?

You gain performance and battery life with Lollipop. I don't condone stock ROMs due to bloat, but there are some fantastic custom ROMs for the G3.
