Rooted OTA (2.11.605.9) Files

Worwig,
Can you detail the process you went through to get both files loaded and installed. I am not good at this and having a hell of a time.
Thanks,
Ron

RPinSC, for the rom, download it and put it on your sd card by plugging in your phone on the computer and mounting it as a disc drive. Leave it on the ROOT of your SDcard meaning not in any files. Then boot up, go to ROM Manager reboot into recover, wipe the usual stuff three times to be safe.

For the Radio, put it on the root of your sdcard as well. Turn off your phone. Hold the volume down key first and leave it held, then hold down power key. Bootloader will load, now it'll check for the PG05IMG.zip (make sure you renamed it to that after you downloaded it first) then it'll ask if you want to apply the update. Press volume up to accept.

If I missed anything, please correct me someone else.

Should I wipe before I reboot into recover? Can I just copy the files over and then Reboot Recovery from the menu, or do I need to turn the phone off and reboot with power and vol sequence?
I really do appreciate the help. The spouse is a little upset with all of this....
Ron

For the first question:

If the recovery your talking about is ROM manager no, you wipe in there. If your talking about the one that you hold the volume down key for. No, you wiped before that in ROM Manger since you need to install the ROM first.

No don't copy files over.

The volum sequence is for the radio. The thing you do in the phone is you go to rom manager and reboot into recovery then install the rom there.

Volum sequence is a bootloader not recovery, you can access recovery from there, but it isn't recovery.
ROM Manager IS recovery.

edit: Make sure you made a backup first, just incase things get hairy.

I appreciate your patience.
Here is where I am. I used Revolutionary a long time ago to root. Their screens are what I am looking at. Currently I have both files copied to the sd card. I am looking at a screen with several options, beginning "with reboot system now" , then a couple of wipes, and ends with advanced. Call it screen one.

If I select advanced, the first item is Reboot Recovery(Screen 2), and then Wipe Dalvik.

Okay, this is my confusion: which reboot should I start with?
do I use :"apply update zip"? and which zip--the ROM I expect.
I know I am taking up your holiday and I apologize
Ron

It's no worries I'm not really busy anyways. Mind adding me on google talk for easier messaging? dzayas79@gmail.com

I've never used revolutionary I used the stock AUTO method from back in early 2011. So you will have to cope with me.

Name me the wipes? I need to know what you can wipe in revolutionary. And are you in recovery or is revolutionary a stand-alone program IN the phone?

Quick question I downloaded the Rooted 2.11.605.9 file. Renamed it to PG05IMG ( as I assumed it was already a zip file). Flashed it. Rebooted and went into settings and it still say 2.11.605.5. Did I do something wrong?

Radio flash method - you got it... ROM flash method - wrong... you don't need to rename the file, but you need to flash a ROM by using Recovery to install the ROM.

Thanks for the response!

So if I understand you I need to reflash my selected ROM (InfectedROm Eternity) and then install the Radio file?

Well you just totally lost me... this is a thread on the 2.11.605.9 files... so WHY are you talking about some other ROM???

Maybe you are thinking about installing 2.11.605.9 over the top of your custom ROM... if so, stop!!! You can not put the stock ROM over your custom ROM and still have a custom ROM... if you flash 2.11.605.9 you will have the newest STOCK ROM. If you want a custom ROM, then stick with the custom ROM.

You were asking about loading 2.11.605.9... you click on the "[Tbolt] How to for ROMs" link in my signature below on how to flash a ROM and how to install Radio's.

Yeah you got me! Color me confused. I talked about another ROM because you mentioned flashing a Rom using a recovery method. I downloaded the 2.11.605.9 file posted by Jrocker23 in THIS original thread which he said was for rooted phones.

I have been rooted since July 2011 the terms sometimes still confuse me.

Sorry

Me too, same issue, rooted the TB (S-off), deleted some bloatware, (had already made the image that Revolutionary root recomended), made Titanium back up and everything was sweet (i.e. less bloatware and active hotspot feature)... then I got an OTA push from Verizon that can't install, so it just gets "jammed" there. I tried to restore but phone can't find back-up(s), pulled battery, tried restore, did factory reset and the OTA push starts re-installing minutes later... and gets jammed again (says package signature can't be verified. I tried turning signature verification off too). So... I cleared cache and did factory reset... phone is good for a few hours... until the OTA gets downloaded again and auto installs!!!! I don't know if custom ROM will help because I'm thinking the OTA will try to install again (seeing as clearing buffer / cache didn't help) and it's still not compatable with custom ROMs either. I'm thinking I need to factory reset then un-root, let OTA run, the re-root or whatever. Any thoughts? I also don't see a stable ROM/Mod for TB. I was going to use CM7 but that looks like it's pre-beta for TB. I like Sence but can live without it. Any recomendations?

I found another post on this subject at

http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...phone-stuck-software-update-loop-plz-hlp.html

It says:

Get into recovery and wipe cache. Then you can do one of two things: use an app like root explorer and go to
etc, then security and rename otacerts.zip to otacerts.bak or download and install 2.11.605.9.

I cant change file name. It says it is read only. Any suggestions?

With root explorer, make sure you mount the directory as R/W permissions.

Check your Radio under Settings > About phone > look for "Baseband version"... if it says 1.48.00.0930w_3, 0.01.78.0916w_3 then you don't need to update your radio... if it doesn't then you do... my guess is you do have to update your radio.

Excuse the interruption, but my Baseband reads as you stated, but my Software number is 2.11.605.5. Is there a problem?
Thanks,
Ron

Is there a problem... fairly open ended question... if you are not having any problems, then I'd say no... but there is a good possibility that you might get an OTA push if you are running the stock vzw build of 2.11.605.5, even with the latest radio... will vzw try to push it if it sees you are not on the latest build, I'd say it was a very good possibility.

I spent a weekend trying to get this right, blab, blab, blab....You've heard it all. I've got "Infectus" loaded on here, used Revol. to root a long time ago. In the restart choices I now can select hot restart, bootloader, and recovery. Is that part of 605.5? Because that is new for me. BTW, what is Hot Restart? I don't really want to start over, but if I must, can we do this via PM. because I must be screwing this up royalty?
Thanks for your time,
Ron

I have successfully stopped the OTA updates from actually trying to install since they released it a few days ago. Every time it would run it would give me the exclamation point with the android symbol and would have to restore my phone from a backup.

I assume this is because of root and my custom ROM. Renaming the OTACerts.zip and freezing com.smithmicro.DM seemed make the OTA not try to install but now it is still alerting me, and tries to install but then I get a message saying "update failed"....daily.

My Question is this:

Can I install the radio alone and have it upgraded to 605.9 and leave my current ROM in place or do I have to flash back to stock w/root as shown here, update the radio and flash back my ShiftS3ns3 ROM?

Files in first post work great, thanks so much. However everytime i make a call and when the call ends a voice comes over the speaker and says "resuming audio" anyone else having this issue? very strange.
