Well I was on v9 rooted romed and everything else. Lasst night I started to update to VD. following the guide and everything seemed to be going good. once it was done my phone restarted but kept getting hung up on the sprint screen. I was able to boot into custom recovery. tried to flash Thunder rom but it kept having an error. eventually I got it to force update to VD and then when it restarted it was back to the stock recovery. and it still gets stuck on the sprint screen. can anyone help

edit: prior to everything I was rooted with v1.1 cutsom recovery running LEGO Rom. I had the dc2c mod as well. I was not able to solve the issue so far and a replacement phone is on its way

You stated that flashing ThundeROM "kept having an error" but you didn't say what that error was.

So here's the million dollar question: what SPECIFICALLY was the error?

My appolgies here it is

E:falure at line7: symlink toolbox system:bin/lsmod
There appears to be something wrong with your /system partition or what is being copied into it.

After you get the error, can you run adb shell post the results of
mount
cd /
ls -l
cd /system
ls -l
cd /system/bin
ls -l

There will be a lot of output so save it off after each command.

Could you also check your ThunderROM-V1.8.zip file to see if there is a system/bin/toolbox file?

Think it could be a side-effect of updating from a V9 ROM to stock VD?

well I cant even get there anymore. Now it is VD, the stock recovery and can only boot as far as the sprint logo.

As far as we know, the stock VD (and VC) recovery kernels are unrootable. And it looks like you have a brick. But have no fear, this thread is here!

EDIT: Err wait, you can get into recovery mode, right? If so, follow this thread instead.

So this most recent session, you were using the stock recovery to try and install TR1.8? That could explain the error you were getting. I assume the first time you installed you used CWMA?

I don't think that is what is happening (at least not the current TR1.8 install problem). I think he is trying to run the TR1.8 update through stock recovery, but I'll wait for confirmation.

Don't recognize the acronym. What is the dc2c mod?

Dalvik cache2cache. I've never used it myself, but I suppose it COULD cause issues.

Wait a second. You tried to flash ThundeROM BEFORE updating to VD?

It is possible that could explain the stuck at sprint logo he described.

The TR1.8 install problem is probably something else though. The update script isn't anywhere near /data when it is throwing the error.

Well I was trying to do TR through the custom recovery and then it would restart when it was done and get hung up on the sprint logo. I then tried to force update it to VD and then when it was done it went back to the stock recovery. It would still get caught on the sprint logo. I just did the force update back to v9 to see if that would take it is at 99% now the phone just rebooted from the lg update screen and is now stuck on the sprint screen again.

Just finished still stuck at the sprint screen

When you say stuck at the Sprint screen, you mean the Sprint animation right? Not the LG logo. I know you said Sprint. Just wanted to confirm.

So it normally does LG Logo, Sprint animation, Android, lock screen.

You saw LG Logo, Sprint animation, then that's it?

now whenever I try to do adb shell I get

- exec '/system/bin/sh' failed: No such file or directory (2) -
You need to run the V8->V9 OTA update.zip to get /system mounted.

Also can you point me to the optimus-specific dc2c you installed so I can see if that might be causing your issues and how best to reverse it if it is.

I found some reference to optimus dc2c. I don't know if this is what you used:

Optimus V -- Dalvik cache to /cache

Most of the changes there were done in initrd. Those get overwritten when you install TR1.8 or stock LG. The portion that had to do with /data can be bypassed by recreating /data.

Have you tried wipe data/cache from the recovery menu to see if that gets you past the Sprint logo hang?

Yea Ive tried wiping it. The wifey is dropping off my card adapter so I can put the v8-v9 update on the card and see if that works
