Rooting a Galaxy S - will it still auto-update to 2.2 ?

I just got my Bell Samsung Galaxy S (Vibrant) but it's the original phone with the three buttons....

I am on 2.1 but told 2.2 will come in the next month or so

I don't wanna wait. I wanna root my phone now.

Questions:

If I root, will my phone still auto update to 2.2 when it's avail ?

Not 100% positive but coming from the Droid, to the Incredible now to this it doesn't really matter. Once Froyo leaks for the Galaxy S there will be a couple different roms that will out preform the official release. It has happen with both my previous android devices.

So my suggestion is root away you will not be left behind and probably will have Froyo before its released via OTA.

Just rooting will still allow updates to come threw. Its when a ROM is installed, the update script is either moved or deleted in most cases.

should also note that when an update comes, it MAY or MAYNOT break the root you had.
