Rooting a Tab S

Is there a simple way to root a Samsung Tab S 8.4?

Something similar to this tool someone linked me to for the Nexus 7. I returned the Nexus because it was described as 7 of 10 but the screen was cracked. And now I found a refurbed Samsung Tab S but I want to root it before I do anything else since rooting wipes the tablet.

From what I can see I have 4.4 Kit Kat with an offer to upgrade which I'm ignoring at the time until I know if I should upgrade then root, or root then upgrade???

Another old thread, but useful. I did not use Techbeasts -that may be great (I don't know) but I successfully rooted my SM-T700 (lollipop) using
ASHYX's autoroot-with-TWRP combined. It worked fine for me; now have a nandroid backup and could (but haven't flashed other roms).
