If I root my phone (wanna use the wireless tether only) will it change the way the phone runs. Would it run slower, faster or glitchy? I would be doing the one click root. Also if I un root before 2.2 comes out will I have a problem getting the ota download and will I be able to re root?

The only way to be 100% sure you get Samsung's crappy software update over-the-air via Verizon is to keep things stock.

With the last OTA, it went through for people with root (even if they didn't unroot - the OTA did it for them) that didn't do any major modifications. But no guarantees.

No, rooting in and of itself will not make your phone run differently. I haven't done the 1-click so I can't comment.

I did the one-click method and haven't seen any problems either. And I'm pretty sure when 2.2 comes out we'll have to un-root to get the OTA and the root will still work after. We'll just have to re-root.

Rooting basically just gives you administrative privileges to the phone. It doesn't actually make any changes, just allows you to. You can take it as far as you'd like. I did the 1 click root with no problems.
