Rooting for battery life?

Hey guys. I know most here are pro rooting but I really see no reason to get into the rooting and ROMs scene except for battery life. So my question is, realistically, what percentage improve could one expect with batter life? Has anyone here actually taken down stats of increased battery life?

Thanks.

Different experiences by different users. It will always depend on the individual usage. You can get stats by browsing through the different ROM threads. The way I do it is to try the ROMS I like with the features I like and go from there.

Note* Try different kernels first and compare after a week or so with each. The kernels also can yield better battery life but it again depends on your usage. There is really no one size fits all

Thanks, I don't even really know the difference between a Rom and a Kernal though. Is there any idiots guide somewhere for people like me interested in looking into it?

My current favorite kernels are franco kernel and Imeseyon's kernel ( spelling?) because of how they run on my phone

Believe it or not I glanced through the stickies before posting... must have missed it. God I need sleep. But thanks, I'll give it a read.
