Rooting GINGERBREAD.EK18

Yes, the prerooted image will leave you rooted after it's flashed. You will very much want to do a wipe after flashing, and yes, that is done in recovery.

I got it all flashed and whiped. I'm uninstalling apps now.
Booksphone.apk
Factorytest.apk and odex
Geniewidget.apk
Lmirescue*.apk (3 files)
Protips.apk and odex
Sprint_installer.apk
Sprintid.apk
Sprintzone.apk
Thinkfree.apk

and prolly a couple more.

Thanks man

Edit: Where are the odex files @??

Is this the list of apps you can remove without messing your phone up? Are there anymore people have tested?

thats the list I got..Theres a couple of wiki's that show you what you can and cannot delete..i also removed the e-mail apk as well as a few others I got from the wiki...one i know is a CM wiki.

The list came from this forum///somewhere.

crackers_and_ice, you can't simply delete odex files. Your phone won't work because the framework and apps all store their classes in them. You have to deodex your rom, not delete it. I've done it twice now, but each time Phone and Mms force quit after a reboot, so leave it alone for now.

well...I've had no problems.

I got your pre rooted GB odin package, flashed it...then hunted up the list i posted earlier...I only got 2 of the odex files uninstalled tho..couldnt find the rest.

I'm not a noob..I've been flashing and cracking android phones since the G1 came out.

My phone is running really good, minus the stuff I deleted from that list..and a couple more I found on the list in the CM wiki.

Side note: I'm the one that commented on your "3G" post on google plus.

Edit: I uninstalled the factorytest apk and odex but the other odex on the list I couldn't find So I didn't worry about it.

All odex files are in /system/app and system/framework. If you removed factory test and its odex, I assume you removed another apk and its odex? I thought you wanted to just remove them all. I don't mean to treat anyone like they don't know anything, but you can see a lot of people here don't and will ask for step-by-step help.

I can't get the pre-rooted rom to flash through Odin. By what its saying on the pic, do I need other drivers installed?

check adb and see if its listed in adb devices. if you dont know how, i just copy the adb files to the root of my c:, open cmd prompt, type adb.exe then type adb devices.also....the galaxy s drivers, i think, is what they figured out worked..im uploading them to my dropbox now if you want em..just download em and plug your phone up..itll autoinstall em if you need em.

sorry for the double post..im on my phones browser and it did it twice..my bad.

Edit: here's the drivers. If it is a driver issue this will fix it.

Just download em to your comp, scan if you want but there clean, and they should autoinstall.

Sometimes they want auto install, but mine did so if they don't just point windows to the folder.

i have ran every root.bat for replenish and prevail for every version including gingerbread.ek18, none of them work what so ever for my sprint samsung replenish. so im wondering since its a sprint phone not just a plain samsung is it even capable of being rooted cause im seeing alot of posts in different forums saying that people flashed/unlocked their phone and then rooted it. ive already looked up my phone and figured out it shouldnt be capable of being unlocked(as far as i can tell) because of its network which is CDMA/DBTM: 1900MHz. Ive never had a android nor have i even attempted to read code or use any os of linux so im really in the dark about anyof this.

and for the record "flash" is the worst term for unlocking a phone because it makes it nearly impossible to search because of all the flash support questions ask by old gezzers wondering if they can watch netflix on their phone.

We're almost all running Sprint Replenishes, and I'd say the strong majority of us are rooted. If you look through this very thread, you will find an Odin image that installs pre-rooted Android 2.3.

ive read this thread over and over and used ever link or what ever i could on here. i have no idea what a odin image is or how to install one. im just looking for a simple step by step guide for someone who is maybe poo for brains idk. or just a hint on how to begin:confused:

doing that just gave me an error code on odin, ive looked around which people say its your usb software conflicting with odin but its really not making since when ive disabled and enabled every usb port that has anything to do with my phones usb connection yet it still comes up with that code, where is the all mighty faq for odin aye? :'(

There is no all mighty faq for odin that I know of. ODIN was a piece of software leaked from samsung. As such, we are not supposed to even have it (but I'm glad we do). I'd say try another windows machine. There must be some strange conflict with yours. In general, windows sucks. Unfortunately, ODIN is only a windows app.
