Ok, I followed all the directions here: [Guide] All About Rooting the HTC Shift: FAQ's & How To's (Updated 3/28/11)

And it all went through perfect.

Now, how do I know if it worked, and how do I start getting this bloatware out?
I tried going to remove apps, and it doesn't let me uninstall anything....ugh....

The best way to tell if your rooted is go into bootloader ( power off then hold power and the volume down button at the same time) if you s-off at the top your rooted.

As far as getting rid of bloat you can use titanium backup to delete apps or you can flash a custom sense ROM with the bloat removed.

Ok, all rooted, but now my android market doesn't work. It says network error...

Odd....

Go into manage applications and select market, then select clear data. That should help..

All works good now. I Downloaded bloat freezer and froze the bloat.
I noticed all day today, on the top of my screen, next to the GPS bullseye, is a sync icon or something, 2 arrows in a circle. What is trying to update all day? I can't find it!!!

Anyone have any good tips on what other htc apps are good to freeze to save battery?
