Merge bootloader is not encrypted

Hopefully the unencrypted bootloader thing will be backported to the few HTC handsets that have it, including HTC Merge.

The bootloader on the Merge is not encrypted.

It is locked, like on HTC's other phones, but it is not encrypted in the way it is on the Thunderbolt and subsequent phones.

Well then that is good news....

So I've looked around and I can't find a root method for the merge anywhere...... anyone have any advice?

i was temprooted but i uninstalled it,do i have to temp root everytime my phone is rebooted?maybe i clciked wrong one idk.what did you select when you temp rooted?thanks

Does free version of titanium back up remove bloatware? Thanks

I don't personally know but I doubt it b/c its only a temp root therefore not writable, so I wouldn't think it would remove it...
Haven't temp rooted, it makes me make I can't perm root so I don't even bother with it anymore....

no you clicked alright. yes You need to temp root every time the phones rebooted. I've heard it can mess with the phone though

I don't bother but if you want to try and have some fun.... I guess go for it....

Thank you Mario, but the princess is in another castle.....

If you have not found out yet just run over to 2fastroms.com
It's been rooted and s-off'd
Tho you will need to download a lot of software to do so...
Just follow instructions, read all the way through first. Then do one step at a time and you should be fine... A lot of people have already done so...
It even has a few roms available!

Good luck, and happy rooting!

ID this thread active? Would like to discuss rooting my merge, why? what are the advantage? risk? I am a civil engineer and I love to tinker and understand tech.

2fastroms.com is the place for root. He has an all in one tool, for root, s-off, and superCID. Although the newer software versions are not compatible, hes supposed to be working on a new version to support it.
