I cant seem to find any up to date version for rooting my fascinate. if there is a way i can do so with no pc at all, sweet. But apparently not in the 2.2.1 froyo im using. The one thread supposedly that was helpful, is no longer around on these forums for MAC users to root their fascinate. So I am frustrated and stuck and can't seem to find any way to root my phone using my mac. So anybody that can help, please do... I've looked everywhere, and all the instructions i've followed, I've always ran into a problem. So hopefully I find a solution.

I was able to root using the sticky in this forum right above your post.
Here!

What I was not able to do (without using Odin on bootcamp) was get CWM to stick... Samsung is tricky and when you reboot your phone after using the oneclick method, Samsung 2e recovery gets put back on instead.

What is it you're hoping to do? Just get root access or flash ROMS? I am new to this too, but got it done a few days ago for the first time.

Well now I'm stuck in a huge problem I have been trying to figure out for 2 days straight now. I guess I'm just a moron, or not getting something.. I feel like its RIGHT in front of me.

So heres my problem: I got my phone rooted and such using Odin on my laptop at home eventually. And now I cannot run any custom ROMs since I am using Rom Manager with CWM 3.0.2.8 (or something similar), with voodoo. I had no idea about this voodoo until now, which I want off my phone. I'm currently trying to reflash other kernels to clear voodoo after I've disabled its lagfixes in my boot menu and stuff. Still no working.........

A reason WHY I want this clockworkmod version off, is because its the ty broken version that is stuck between the 2 types of coding roms use. It can only read the new style (which cm7 uses), and most others do not.. So any rom i've downloaded says "Installation aborted"... I go into Rom Manager, and look for previous versions of CWM like 2.5 to go back to, just brings up an error. So I then check fo the updated version of cwm like 3.2, it says Im up to date, being at 3.0.2.8....bs... I have 2.5 cwm and 3.2 zips on sdcard, tried manually updating them in reboot, to try and overwrite this version of cwm on it, won't work... nothing seems to work. CWM stays in that ugg red text, and pretty much seems to just run my phone. like i'm its .

All in all, I need a step by step process to remove voodoo CWM 3.0.2.8 off of my device, and how to reflash a fresh kernel and NEWER version of cwm to my phone, that is up to date and ready to roll. So I can then use all roms.

Any help or a working process would be much appreciated!

oh and I do have access to a PC, so either OS works

Sorry for DP - I am leaving old post there for anybody else who may have this problem!!

Thanks to DroidXcon and his threads, the problem has seemed to be resolved. I am now more familiar with Odin, and he supplied me with a completely stock tar/md5 to use in it. Which I couldnt seem to find a working link for a voodoo removal kernel before.. Now its re-rooted without rom manager (thank god) and with superclean rom. Thanks a ton DroidXcon!

Problem is resolved.
