Rooting/What's needed on PC?

I read the f'n manual and from what I understand, I need to DL different programs to my PC, do backups of my phone (to my PC or on my phone? (What program do I need for this?)
I've been scanning XDA & this site and still can't get any answers except "use the hack kit".

There also seems to be an issue with the radio on the Inspire after rooting, which is pretty important since you need it to use your phone, but I can't find any info regarding how to fix this after rooting.

Then there's the goldcard issue, which makes no sense to me...do I need to buy a separate SD card for this?

People say its all easy to do following the steps, but it assumes you already know & understand several of the steps and isn't exactly noob friendly.

Also, is there a site that lists all the ROMs and what they look like on your phone & tells what they do that makes them different from another ROM? There seems to be a ton of ROMs to pick from, but I don't want to take the risk of having to flash a new ROM each time just to see what it'll do on my phone.

Thanks for any explanations!

The effin manual indicates the kit is a self-contained, cross-platform solution. It includes instructions on how to invoke it on different platforms.

The XDA forums contain many threads about ROMs for the device, most with screenshots. You're not going to be able to get around flashing them to see how they work for you. It's how we do it.

If this does not sound appealing/interesting/comfortable to you then you may be happier with the stock experience.

Yea, Just go to XDA in the Inspire forums there are all kinds of Roms both with Sense and without. There are also videos showing step by step what to do to root and You Tube has them as well. Plus most if not all the Dev's are happy to help if needed. But I will tell you now that all custom Roms have bugs, some very minor some major. You will have to try different ones till you find what you want. Plus flashing Roms is very additive and fun too. So have a ball.

JUST READ THE EFFEN MANUAL LoL really though every thing you need to down grade and root is there. It does the gold card, down grades radio in stalls Ruu reupgrade radio everything but give you a hand job not a better tool out there than Att1s. Wish I'd have had it when I rooted my inspire. Rooted mine with in couple months of release. Had to do most ur self. Still wasn't that bad with Bubbys help just had to do a lot of reading and then more reading then when you finely started bunch of praying you didn't brick your new ph. LoL it was a lot of fun though and learned ALOT. USE Att1s kit READ THE EFFIN MANUAL and you'll be fine
