rooting does not update your phone... it just gives you root access, which allows you to update as you see fit

-.- that was so insightful thank you.

Im asking for a way to do it not the reasoning behind it. ive rooted my phone with updates and different roms many many times. ijust dont want to do it with an update involved.

first... you never asked a method to do anything... you asked "is it possible..." which I answered

second... what update are you expecting to happen to your phone when you root? The only updates that occur to your phone are the ones you manually install yourself post rooting... ii'm not sure what you are asking

and also, you obviously came here for help... so, I would considering losing the sarcasm when someone tries to help you

Follow Sheepdog Elite's instructions in this thread:
http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...0058-how-first-time-rooting-walk-through.html

or you can follow DroidXcon's different options for rooting found in this thread:
http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...eturn-stock-remove-system-apps-other-how.html

And I would have given you the same answer as JOrtenzi because you didn't ask for a method or where a method could be found. You simply asked if it was possible. The best way to answer people here in the forums is to give a concise, accurate answer to the question asked rather than trying to interpret what may have been inferred and giving some long winded answer.

First. I would suggest you relax the tone a bit. Everyone here is just looking for help. Attacking them doesn't accomplish this.

Second. I'm sure what he was referring to since he said he's rooted using updates before is installing updated roms that already have root access built into them like most do these days. What he needs to do is just root the phone himself, not install a rom that already has it.

I did no attacking... he asked a question, I gave him an aswer.... he decided to be a smart a** about it

and with the information given in his original post... there was no way of knowing that he is rooted and using updates before... I gave him the best answer I could with the given information

I agree with your first answer, but when he asked for further information there was no reason to belittle him, no matter how vague he was initially. Some people just don't know how to fully express the question they have.

OK guys, no need for the two of you to be going back and forth. You both want to help the OP, and both of you know how to best help him. The OP hasn't responded yet, so hopefully he realized his first post was not worded in the best way, and his curt retort was unnecessary. Let's just wait to see if he posts back and needs any further help.

i keep trying the fascinateroot_v02 and it never works even though i have done everything correctly. i have it on debugging, usb ask on connection and stay awake. it shows my device is connected but whenever it tries to transfer files it says 0kbs transfered and then after it says no device found

Why did u just dbl post while I was helping you in another thread?

because you became silent and stopped helping and this post was before i asked about it on that thread.

I realized that, Im also at work so im trying to help you as quick as I can, please be patient, there r alot of people here trying to help you. I would recommend read this front to back. http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...eturn-stock-remove-system-apps-other-how.html There r many other rooting options. or you could always do this http://forum.androidcentral.com/ver...tom-roms-w-root-clockwork-updated-3-25-a.html make sure to read carefully.

Are you even going to address the mess you created in this thread with your biting response to JOrtenzi's attempt to answer your question and help you? I saw that you posted in DroidXcon's thread after you created this hassle.

Unreal cause I was starting to help him there. I get ur frustrations now sharky.

and.. im also having more than one person offering to help

He didn't become silent and stop helping you, he's at work and can't immediately answer your every question. I am lucky enough to have a job where I can flex my hours, but in dealing with this mess YOU created, I am now going to have to end up working until 10 tonight instead of 7 like I was planning on. Since you are now the one who has gone silent instead of just acknowledging your OP was vague and could have been worded better and admitting your second post was out of line.
