Is there anyway to rotate the Eris screen the opposite way? In other words, having portrait view with the trackball on the left instead of right side.

As of right now, I don't think so.
As much as I would like to see it rotate the other way, I don't think it can do it. Maybe we will see it when the 2.1 update comes out with the new UI, but as of now it is only the one direction. I hope that helps.
